Today is going to turn out just fine. No matter what happens today, it is going to turn out ok. This came to me this morning. I did my usual in Thanking God this morning, and I just started speaking on how today was going to work out just fine.

No matter if you are running late, today is going to turn out ok. Slow down, finish your routine, breath a moment and let the day come to you. What’s the worst that can happen because you’re late? The day isn’t over. You can recover from being late. You are still alive to finish this day that God has given you.

If you woke this morning or whenever you are reading this, and something didn’t go as planned, keep going. Just because you received a “No” doesn’t mean your life has ended. That means you need to stop and regroup, then proceed to the next plan of action. Don’t let one decision or a person get you so off track that you are going to mess up the rest of the day. Remember a “No” isn’t a final destination, it’s a redirection.

If you having trouble with finances, family, coworkers, or any other issue that is heavy on you today, it’s not the end. Today is still going to turn out ok. Leave the bad and pick up the good. Focus on what you can control and have a good day. Have an attitude of gratitude. In Everything…Give Thanks Finding something to be grateful for will always turn your negative thoughts into positive thoughts.

We can’t let one thing or person ruin an entire 24hrs for us. That means we have given that thing total control and power over us. 3 THINGS YOU CAN CONTROL Feed what you need. Don’t feed into negativity. If you received a rejection, feed the next opportunity. Don’t click on or read anything negative today. Look for anything motivating and inspiring.

Today is going to turn out to be a great day!!!!!!!!

There isn’t much we can control in our life. But there are 3 things we can control that will benefit our mental and emotional wellbeing.

Believe in You

The one thing I’ve mastered really well is not responding how someone wants or expect you to. In order to maintain control of your emotions, you have to either not respond or respond how they expect. My favorite is no response. I feel if you are doing something to get a reaction out of me, then you don’t deserve a response from me. That is mental and emotional manipulation.

If we think about it, when we respond we’re giving them what they want. Before you know it, we are in an argument or situation that isn’t worth it. For me, after walking away, I was more upset that I even responded or gave them what they wanted. Now if you do choose to respond, do so on your own terms. Let things simmer down before you respond emotionally. That way your emotions are in tact and you can get out what you need. The More You Grow…

This is quite simple, leave people guessing. This is totally in your control. Living in a society where some over share, keeping your business close to the vest is best. What they don’t know won’t hurt them. The more people know about you the more they can insert themselves into your life. Even if it’s something good, that is when people hate on you the most. Be careful what you tell to people and who you tell it to.

The one’s that are closest to us is the ones that sometimes quietly pray for our downfall. Everything isn’t for everyone. That way if you do hear something about yourself, you know it’s completely made up. Also, if you tell one person, please understand and know it will be repeated.

The last thing you can control is what and who you give your time to. You have the ability to go where you want. Who you choose to be in a relationship with is completely up to you. How you invest your time is all up to you. Remember we give time and energy to who and what is important to us.

If you feel like there is somethings or people that has been taken up too much of your time then cut back. If you haven’t seen an return on your investment, then its time to reallocate your time. We all get the same amount of hours in a day, the number of days in a week, and the days in the month. What we do with it and how we use it, is completely our responsibility.

Control is something many grapple with. Trying to control the wrong things can certainly hurt your mental and emotional. Focusing on your response especially to negative energy is something that will help you. Giving away too much time to the wrong things can make you feel unproductive. And telling your business only gives others something to use to manipulate you. Be careful and mindful.

Protect Your Peace And Energy

My friends it is very important that we reach a place in our mind, heart, body, soul, and spirit where we are at peace. I mean you have to get to a point where nothing or no one can shift or shake your mood, get you upset, and ruin your day.

P-Protect your mental and emotional wellbeing. Love from a distance. Forgive and move on. Create space if needed to. Make sure that you are putting yourself in positions to feed off positive energy and people.

E-Evolving into the person you want to become is a process. Enjoy the process. Evolving is great and we are going to constantly evolve as we age and grow.

A-Acknowledge vulnerability. Being vulnerable allows you to get to know yourself on an intimate level. Peeling back the layers and being free gives you a clear vision of yourself.

C-Cheer yourself up daily. If you do something good tell yourself that. If you feel like you look good that day, tell yourself that. Don’t be afraid to affirm and pat yourself on the back.

E-Expand your mind and heart to believe higher about yourself. God doesn’t have limits on us, so neither should we. Believe higher and better about yourself. Know you can do the impossible. Even if others doubt you or don’t believe in you. GOD IS A KEEPER

Please understand that you remaining calm, not responding verbally or non verbal, rejecting phone calls, not responding to text and taking your moment is OK to do. Anything negative or not in your best interest shall be dismissed or blocked.

Be you so you can be free.

All of us on this earth have a purpose. I know because God specifically placed us here when He wanted, how He wanted, and why He wanted. So because God said so, You Have A Purpose.

It doesn’t matter who your parents are, where you come from, or where you grew up, the purpose that God placed you here for hasn’t left your spirit. Regardless of what you’ve done, good or bad, to this point, you still have a purpose.

Nothing or no one can change God’s plan for you.”

There is still someone out there that you inspire. What you think is your pain or worst mistake, encourages and motivates another. How you overcome obstacles, inspires another to have the same strength as you. While you’re thinking you are damaged and no one would care, trust me there are many who look to you for light.

If you are feeling like you’ve been through too much trauma, ask yourself what is the common root of each experience. Look back and see how you over came each time. Now think about the lesson learned and what you know about yourself in the after math. Your purpose is sometimes in your pain. STRENGTH

Look around and I guarantee you, your purpose is right there. However, we can’t be afraid of what our purpose is. If it is to share your experiences to make someone else better or whole, then we have to get comfortable with being vulnerable. As I told my husband one night, I have to do “it” (I was struggling telling a family member something that could potentially hurt them) because I feel like God is trusting me to deliver a certain message to a certain person.

Don’t think your life is over and you have to settle. You have a purpose and will make a difference. Trust yourself to trust God, and you will get through.

We can have the “perfect” routine and set up for life to be great. However, setbacks, rejections, and stumbling blocks are necessary for growth. In fact, they should be expected as nothing happens or develops how we set them out to.

No matter what we are planning or setting out to do, we are going to encounter a speed bump. The key is to not take this speed bump and let it stop us completely. We may have to slow down to get over it. We may have to back up and try some other vehicle to get us over it. But we will eventually get over the speed bump.

When we have to stop or go around a set back, we are learning and picking up knowledge needed to get us through to the next level. Obviously, there was something missing in our bag that we didn’t pick up on the way. Setbacks, rejections, and stumbling blocks helps us grow stamina mentally, emotionally, and sometimes physically.

During this time, you may feel lonely and unsupported. There are times you are going to break down and cry. P.S. Crying is a good thing to do. It’s a good way to release tensions and frustration. We are human and its ok to cry. You may even have a time where you feel like giving up. In your mind you have done everything you could and just don’t see an answer in sight. My friend, all these feelings are normal. Even the most successful has had these thoughts and feelings. KEEP GOING AND PUSH YOURSELF

Once you reach what seems like the pit of hell, that is when you’re going to feel this surge of energy. Every answer you’ve been searching for finally comes to light. Now those setbacks, rejections, and stumbling blocks makes sense. You’ve figured the puzzle out and what each piece means.

We don’t know everything. Setbacks, rejections, and stumbling blocks helps us grow by teaching us what we don’t know.

The next time you’re faced with a speed bump, ask yourself what did I miss along the way? What didn’t I pick up that I left behind? Look at it and get excited because you’re about to discover and learn something that is going to propel you to the next level.

Why I’m not a fan of working a 9-5 job

The thought of doing the same thing over and over again for 40 years pains me to think about it. There are many reasons why I’m not fan of working a 9-5 job. I applaud those who sit at the same desk from the time they are 25 years old to 70 years old. On the other hand, I have a couple of questions, “Why and how did you do it.?”

The main reason why I”m not a fan of working a 9-5 job is because I need my brain stimulated. Doing the same thing over and over again everyday will make me bored very easy. I like to be challenged. The enjoyment I get out of problem solving and figuring things out, keeps me motivated. I guess that’s why accounting and numbers are my thing. Balancing books and figuring out that one number that’s off is my drug of choice.

Side Note: I know I promote and encourage a self care routine, but a routine that doesn’t allow me to expand or explore and wasn’t created by me isn’t a routine for me.

Another reason why I’m not a fan of working a 9-5 is there isn’t any flexibility. Because you go in at the same time everyday, sit at the same desk everyday, eat lunch at the same time, go home at the same time, and see the same coworkers, I begin to feel like the hamster on the wheel. My life as I know it is wasting away. After so long, I begin to feel like the value of what I have to offer is no longer a there. Therefore, the work become less exciting, the motivation to get it done isn’t as great, and eventually you begin to care less about production.

As a mom and wife, time for family life and handling business is little to none. The time you need to take care of certain business is during the time you’re at work everyday. Getting things done around the house is always a chore because of little time that’s available. Especially when you have kids that play sports. Your evenings are tied as well as your weekend. Not to mention, you only get one day on Saturday, because Sunday is spent getting ready for the week.

No matter how hard you work and your accomplishments, you are easily replaceable. You literally can die and they will begin looking to replace you immediately. They don’t care about you personally, even though you are spending more than 40 hours a week there. Let’s be honest, working a 9-5 your coworkers may know more about you than some family. They only care about what you can do for them.

Most of the time the company and their policies aren’t for the employees best interest. I’m not a fan of working a 9-5 and having myself or others feeling like a machine. It’s presented as such. However, the company number goal is to increase profit and maximize it with little expense. They cover themselves before you can even think of covering your behind. HR isn’t your friend. It’s the companies friend.

Final Thoughts

To give you some background, when I was in high school I thought I wanted to be a marketing consultant and a 9-5 was my destiny. However, as I got into college and began working and managing my class schedule, I knew a monotonous job and schedule wasn’t for me. I wanted to have the freedom to work and still live my life as I needed to. YOU CONTROL YOUR OWN DESTINY

Fast forward to after graduation and being a stay at home mom, I tried it, and I don’t like it. The office politics was just too much. The idea of being in the office for eight or nine hours was getting to me mentally. For starters, I knew I could be doing other things that needed to be done. Also doing something I actually loved and devoting my time to that. Finally I had too much down time, because once I was able to get into a routine and understand my duties I was able to complete them quickly.

Because of all the reasons above, the sheer motivation to get up every morning, get dressed, and have enthusiasm to get to the office just isn’t there. Why I’m not a fan of working a 9-5, I do believe you can achieve great success and results if you are efficient and proficient.

I am not a fan of working 9-5 and sitting around not doing much or being productive. Yes, I’ve heard people say “its easy money” but I don’t want easy money. I need and want to use my talents and gifts. I have a thing of needing to feel productive. Now if you’re a fan of a routine 9-5 system and it works for you that is amazing!!!!!!! I just need the flexibility to be creative, challenged, and motivated.

It’s hot outside and there are some summer beauty self care practices that I like to do to help me get through to the next season. In no particular order, here are some of my tips, tricks, and essentials.SPRING SELF CARE TIPS YOU CAN DO NOW

  1. Exfoliation-Of course we all know the benefits of exfoliation and removing dead skin cells. For me, exfoliating my face at least 3x a week and my body everyday almost is essential for my skin. Because I love to take a walk 🧘🏾‍♀️ outside and get some natural vitamin d, the sweat, grime, and environment gets into my skin. I don’t stop there, because I do workout and sweat more in the summer, it’s essential for me to do a scalp exfoliation. Literally from head to toe exfoliation is important.
  2. Moisturize-I know this seems completely against the norm, but even in the warm months moisturizer🧴 is an important summer beauty self care habit. Especially after tip #1 in exfoliating, moisturizing afterwards plumps your skin back up. Opt for a light water gel moisturizer for your face, a light body moisturizer that isn’t too heavy, or you can use those in shower moisturizers. Moisture is key for youthful looking skin from head to toe.
  3. Fragrance-We all still want to smell good. We are going lighter on the products as well as clothing. Go for a mild fragrance the last all day. I am a huge fan of Philosophy Pure Grace. This is a classic and timeless fragrance that walks with you all day. Also one thing about Pure Grace is you can layer it with other light fragrances.
  4. Colorful Diet-Lots of fruits, veggies, 🥗and water. You can go for fruit salads. Play around with many different kinds of green salads. Also a great refresher is fruit infused water. DIY Cucumber Lemon Water GREAT REFRESHERStaying hydrated often and daily is important to your summer self care. Not to mention, the more colorful your palette, the more vitamins and nutrients help with your skin and hair.
  5. Sunscreen-Please do not skip out on the sunscreen. Make sure to keep it on your hands while you’re driving. Also on your arm that sits under the window while you’re driving. Of course face and neck while exposed. If it’s quite hot, opt to not go out in the peak hours .
  6. Mani & Pedi-Have fun with your mani and pedi. 💅🏾Play with colors, patterns, and designs. Keep them fresh and show your personality through your mani and pedi. Going back to tip #1, always keep a pumice stone in the shower to ensure your feet stay smooth all summer long.
  7. Minimal Makeup-Keep your 💄 routine light and simple. Let your natural glow and skin come through. After moisturizer and sunscreen, enhance you beauty with a few products. Brow gel, mascara, primer that blurs, and a nice hot pink lipstick. Or shade of your choice. In the summer I always love to go bold on the lipstick.
  8. Fun-Enjoy your summer and have fun. 🤽🏾‍♀️No matter if you’re hanging out in the backyard or going on a vacation elsewhere. Soak up the sun and enjoy your life. You only get one. You’re not going to get summer 2021 back again. There aren’t any redo’s.

That’s all for my summer beauty self care essentials tips and tricks. As always, take care of yourself mentally and emotionally first. Then let the beauty on the inside shine through and glow on the outside. Have a great summer. Be safe!!!!!!

With the holiday weekend past, I feel this since of calm. I have this since of relief for some reason and there are 3 things I’m looking forward to the rest of July.

The first thing that I’m looking forward to is NO SCHOOL!!!!!!! Here where we live, my kids just finished out summer school and I couldn’t be more happy. Now summer school was completely optional and it gives them a month introduction into the next grade. But, boy myself as well as my car is happy we aren’t on the morning and afternoon commute.

This past school year all three of my kids were able to attend in classroom. However, at a days notice we had to adjust and adapt to virtual on several occasions. I guess that’s where my since of relief come from. I couldn’t have a set schedule on anything. I’m a girl who loves change and like to take risks, but I had to master the art of literally living day to day.

I will say as a family we did well on the challenge. We knew going in how uncertain things were going to be and the kids were completely on board. They were so over the homeschooling thing. Anytime they were able to get out of house and with friends they took. But, with all of that, I think we’re all happy to have a break.

The next thing I’m looking forward to the rest of July is QVC’s Christmas in July Sale. Yes, I said Christmas. And, QVC is my favorite place to shop. The Christmas in July sale allows me to get gifts and decor that are unique and timeless. Not to mention, the amazing sale prices. I can have the items delivered right to my front door without the hustle and bustle of going to the store. Because holiday season is my favorite time of the year, collecting and getting pieces that aren’t in stores gives me a high. HAS 2021 BEEN WHAT YOU EXPECTED?

Lastly, I’m looking forward to the Olympics this year. My family and I are huge sports fans and love watching all the events in the Olympics. It gives us an opportunity to watch athletes we normally wouldn’t see on television, gives us a mental and emotional break from all the negativity going on in the world, and offers hope and inspiration. Hearing some of their stories of triumph makes me put my own grievances into perspective.

So, that is 3 things for now on what I’m looking forward to this July. What are you looking forward to? It doesn’t have to be big. What makes you excited, smile, and happy? Think about some of the things that gives you a since of relief, even if it’s temporary. All these small chapters makes up our story. What we look forward to and get excited about answers questions about ourselves.

Makeup Free For A Year And Loving It

So I never thought I would get to a point of not wanting to put on makeup. But, I’ve been makeup free for a year and loving it. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still a huge product junkie and love to play in makeup but I also love my skin and believe in giving it a break. In actuality, I love my bare unfiltered skin more and more everyday.

It started a couple years ago, where due to a tornado that damaged my office, our office became anywhere we can find space, so we were going to work very casually. It was hot and humid, and we were working with what we had left from the damage.

I began to feel like, you know what, I don’t want to be walking out here in 100 degree weather. Worried about if it’s sweating off, disappearing, and yes oil blotting like crazy. But I had this huge fear of not looking put together, professional, or like I cared about myself if I didn’t put on something.

I was having all these emotions because I wanted to give my skin a break and I wanted to feel free. I was conflicted because some in my office thought makeup was an essential to come to work. On the other hand, I didn’t want to be so dependent on makeup. Also, I know for a fact makeup doesn’t have any reflection on work performance.

So when the tornado hit, it kicked that feeling of wanting to be free in overdrive and I felt like it was the right opportunity for me to break free.

But one of the biggest obstacles, was yes I wanted to be free, but I didn’t want to look oily or greasy all day. Um, yeah I’m one of those girls who have oily skin and I love my oily skin. The benefits of having oily skin helps with my anti aging, but that’s for another post. Anyway, I began to play around with products and minimizing my routine as much much as possible. I settled on a primer to keep the oil at bay and it blurs my skin as well, apply two coats of mascara, brow gel, and some lipgloss. I felt like hey, it doesn’t look like I just rolled out of bed and no one will be able to fry eggs on my face. That was cool but I still didn’t feel “free”.

Fast forward to quarantine and that desire arose again. Yes, I was going to the office but, it was for a couple of hours and I was alone with the door locked while I was there. So you guessed it, I felt no need to get up extra early to apply makeup 💄 .

I have been literally makeup free and loving it for a year now. I don’t even do the primer, mascara, and lipgloss. Actually, Carmex has been my go to lip moisturizer because I will not have crusty lips. And I feel good and it feels good to show up bare face as myself, without a “mask”. I no longer care if others feel like it isn’t professional and I no longer feel like I’m not put together. Me going to work, grocery store, or wherever else without makeup has nothing to do with what I have to offer or my performance. In fact, I feel more comfortable, at peace, and free.

Now I didn’t set out to be makeup free with a certain time frame. It just happened that I love being free so much that I haven’t went back. Of, course I still play in makeup when I have free time. It’s still a hobby of mine and a way for me to have my “me time”. Self Care Beauty Routine

Going out bare skin, has given me so much more free time in the morning. Here’s a big one, I don’t go down the makeup aisles as much anymore. First I’m not using as much so I don’t need to replenish. Because the desire isn’t there daily I no longer feel like I have to try everything that has launched. So yes I’ve saved a lot of money being makeup free. I stick to my skin care regimen and keep that simple as well. I’ve been thankful to find products that I can wear that doesn’t give me the greasy look and still keep me moisturized.

I’ve noticed how much more confident I am when I go out. It’s so ironic, because you would think that the makeup will give me that boost. But me showing up bare and myself has mentally and emotionally been beneficial. I’m loving my natural glow and wouldn’t trade it for a highlighter.

If you’ve been struggling with skin issues, time in the morning, confidence, or feeling trapped by always having to be made up, then I encourage you to show up and bare it all. There is a liberating feeling that you’ll receive. Think of it as taking the mask off, many of us hide behind masks of all sorts. Removing the mask will set you free.
