Life is full of challenges, both big and small. But amidst the chaos and busyness, we often overlook the little victories that make our days brighter and more meaningful. Recently, I received an email at work, and before the signature, in bold letters, it read “Win the Day.” This simple yet powerful reminder resonated with me deeply. Finding Your Win of the Day

Every day presents opportunities for victories. These wins don’t have to be monumental achievements; they can be simple moments of personal triumph. Here are some examples of what a win might look like in your day:

**1. Staying Calm in Traffic:
Road rage can easily ruin your mood, but choosing to stay calm and not letting another driver’s behavior frazzle you is a significant win. It shows self-control and emotional resilience.

**2. Positive Interactions:
Encountering a rude cashier or an unpleasant person can be frustrating. If you managed to respond with kindness or patience, that’s a win. It’s a testament to your character and ability to rise above negativity.

**3. Acts of Kindness:
Helping someone in need, offering a compliment, or simply making someone feel good about themselves are all wins. These acts of kindness not only brighten someone else’s day but also boost your own sense of fulfillment and happiness.

**4. Personal Achievements:
Maybe you completed a task you’ve been putting off, hit a new milestone in your fitness journey, or finally decluttered that space in your home. Recognizing and celebrating these achievements is essential.

Reflecting on Your Win of the Week

In addition to daily wins, it’s important to look back at your week and identify a standout victory. 5 WINS OF THE WEEK Reflecting on your weekly win helps you see the bigger picture of your progress and growth. Here are some prompts to help you identify your win of the week:

**1. Professional Success:
Did you achieve a goal at work, receive positive feedback, or learn a new skill? Professional accomplishments, no matter how small, contribute to your overall career growth and satisfaction.

**2. Personal Growth:
Think about moments when you stepped out of your comfort zone, tackled a difficult situation, or made a positive change in your habits. Personal growth wins are crucial for your long-term development.

**3. Health and Wellness:
Consider your health-related wins. Did you stick to your exercise routine, make healthier food choices, or find time for self-care? These wins are vital for maintaining your physical and mental well-being.

**4. Relationships:
Reflect on your interactions with loved ones. Did you strengthen a relationship, resolve a conflict, or spend quality time with family or friends? Relationship wins are essential for emotional fulfillment.

Why Celebrating Wins Matters

Celebrating your wins, both big and small, has several benefits:

**1. Boosts Motivation:
Recognizing your achievements keeps you motivated and encourages you to keep striving for more.

**2. Enhances Positivity:
Focusing on the positive aspects of your day or week shifts your mindset from what’s lacking to what’s going well, fostering a more positive outlook on life.

**3. Builds Confidence:
Acknowledging your successes builds self-confidence and reinforces your belief in your abilities.

**4. Encourages Gratitude:
Reflecting on your wins cultivates a sense of gratitude, which is linked to greater happiness and life satisfaction.

The phrase “Win the Day” is a powerful reminder to find and celebrate the victories in our everyday lives. Whether it’s staying calm in a stressful situation, spreading kindness, or achieving personal goals, each win contributes to our overall well-being and happiness. Take a moment today to reflect on your win, no matter how small, and appreciate the positive impact it has on your life. By celebrating these moments, we can foster a more motivated, positive, and grateful mindset.

So, what was your win of the day or week? Share it with others, reflect on it, and take pride in your accomplishments. Let’s continue to “Win the Day” together.

Monday Humor: Enjoy the Moment – It’s Still Summer!

Ah, Mondays. The start of a new week, the perfect time for a little humor to kick things off and remind us to stay present and enjoy the moment. Who else feels like July is here in a blink, the 4th of July holiday is already over, and suddenly the stores are putting out school supplies? Clearance and closeout sales are everywhere, and people are already gearing up for fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and even Christmas!

ice cream on ceramic plate

It’s almost comical how quickly the retail world moves. One minute we’re enjoying fireworks and BBQs, and the next, we’re bombarded with back-to-school ads and pumpkin spice everything. It seems like the world is in a hurry to rush through the year, skipping from one major holiday to the next. Even my favorite, QVC, is hosting their annual Christmas in July sale. But amidst this whirlwind of seasonal transitions, it’s important to pause and remember to enjoy the now. 5 SIMPLE AND EASY HEALTHY TIPS FOR SUMMER

A Humorous Take on Seasonal Rush
Let’s take a lighthearted look at this phenomenon:

**1. Summer Sales to Santa Sightings:
Is it just me, or do the summer clearance sales start before we’ve even had a chance to get a decent tan? You walk into a store for sunscreen and end up surrounded by Christmas lights. It’s as if the retail calendar is on fast-forward.

**2. The School Supplies Frenzy:
Nothing says “enjoy your summer” like a giant “Back to School” banner in July. Parents, take a deep breath – there’s still plenty of time before the school bell rings again. Kids, savor those lazy days and ice cream cones while you can. I had to tell my daughter to hold her horses when she asked about back to school shopping.

**3. Pumpkin Spice Preview:
Pumpkin spice lattes here they come? At this rate, we’ll be sipping peppermint mochas by September. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good PSL, but can we please let summer have its moment in the sun? Now I’ll have to confess this one is a little hard because I do enjoy a good latte.

**4. Holiday Countdown:
It feels like there’s a countdown clock for every holiday. “Only 90 days until Halloween!” “Thanksgiving is just around the corner!” Can we hit the pause button and enjoy the warm, sunny days of July without feeling like we’re behind on our holiday shopping? If you don’t have good will power, stay away from stores like Hobby Lobby. They’ll have you decorating for fall in July and lighting warm vanilla candles.

The Reminder to Stay Present

Amidst all this rush, here’s your Monday reminder: enjoy now and stay in the moment. It’s still summer! There’s no need to fast-forward through the season. Although fall/winter holidays are my favorite time of the year, it’s still important for us to stay present in the now. Here are a few tips to help you stay present and make the most of the sunny days:

**1. Embrace the Outdoors:
Take advantage of the long, warm days by spending time outside. Whether it’s a picnic in the park, a hike in the mountains, or simply lounging by the pool, savor the fresh air and sunshine. One of the ways we’ve been enjoying our time is heading to Food Truck Fridays, Thursday Night Live, or any event that is being held. Not only do we get out and have some summer fun. But we get out our comfort zone and try places and events we normally wouldn’t. Bonus tip: there is so many free local activities you can enjoy.

**2. Unplug and Unwind:
Give yourself a break from the constant stream of future-focused advertisements and social media posts. Spend some time offline, enjoying the here and now without the pressure of what’s coming next. Give yourself a break to think for yourself. Too much screen time will have you shopping, engaging in content that isn’t beneficial for your mental health, and focused on the next moment.

**3. Create Summer Memories:
As I get older, better, and happier the less I want material things. I’d rather have experiences and moments that have a lasting memory and impact on my overall health. Plan fun activities that you’ll remember fondly. Host a summer BBQ, go on a road trip, or try a new outdoor sport. These moments will become cherished memories that you can look back on when the weather gets colder.

**4. Practice Mindfulness:
After it’s all said and done, be grateful for this day that we won’t get back. Mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing, meditation, or simply taking a moment to appreciate your surroundings, can help keep you grounded in the present.

While it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of seasonal transitions and holiday preparations, it’s essential to remember to enjoy the present moment. So, this Monday, take a step back, laugh at the absurdity of it all, and soak in the summer vibes. There’s plenty of time for school supplies, pumpkin spice, and holiday cheer. Right now, let’s embrace the sunshine, the warmth, and the joy of summer.

Happy Monday, everyone! Let’s make the most of today.

10 Thought-Provoking Quotes and Stories to Reflect On

In a world filled with noise and constant activity, sometimes the most profound insights come from the simplest quotes or brief stories. It’s no secret that I’m a lover of quotes and some great one liners to get the mind going. As a thinker, I’ve always been drawn to these snippets of wisdom that garner deep reflection and help me piece together the puzzles of life. Also providing clarity, answers, and assurance. Here are ten gems that have recently resonated with me, each offering a unique perspective on life, relationships, and personal growth.

1. When Someone Treats You Differently

“When someone starts to treat you differently out of the blue, it’s because they have done something or said something that would be hurtful to you. As a result, they don’t know if you’ve figured it out or not.”

  • Reflection: This quote reminds us to trust our instincts when we notice a change in someone’s behavior. It suggests that their actions may be influenced by guilt or fear of being discovered, urging us to consider underlying motives. Often, our intuition picks up on things that our conscious mind hasn’t fully processed yet. When someone begins to act differently, it could be a sign of something deeper that needs addressing.
  • I experienced this firsthand with my aunt. She suddenly started acting differently, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on what was wrong. Instead of being honest about her feelings and desire to move, she painted a false picture to other family members. Meanwhile, I was the one motivating her to live her life, helping her move, and driving her to the airport. Just days before everything came to light, I told my husband, “something ain’t right.” Shortly after, I pieced the puzzle together and understood her true motives. This experience reinforced the importance of trusting my instincts and being aware of the subtle signs in people’s behavior.

2. The Language of Aggression

“Those who use foul language, are aggressive in conversations, and never allow the other person to complete their thoughts are incapable of expressing their feelings. The inability to understand and explain oneself doesn’t give space to hear someone else. They’ll be in defense mode.”

  • Reflection: This passage highlights the importance of communication and emotional intelligence. It encourages us to be mindful of how we express ourselves and to strive for understanding in our interactions with others. When someone is aggressive or uses foul language, it often masks a deeper inability to communicate effectively. Instead of engaging in productive dialogue, they resort to defensive tactics, which hinder meaningful connections. Recognizing this can help us approach such situations with empathy and patience, seeking to understand rather than react.
  • One day in conversation with a coworker , she shared that she doesn’t engage with others who speak aggressively, use foul language, or raise their voice. She said, “If you’re an adult, you should be able to use your words and speak calmly. When you talk like an adult, I’m here to listen.” That was seven years ago, and I still hold on to that wisdom. It reinforces the value of calm, respectful communication and the power of listening.

Outgrowing Your Family

“The toughest thing one can do is outgrow their family. No one did anything to you. You love them very dearly. However, because you decided to expand your mind and grow, you’re painted as if you think you’re better than everyone.”

  • Reflection: Personal growth can sometimes create tension within familial relationships. This quote reassures us that it’s okay to grow and change, even if it causes discomfort for those around us. Outgrowing your family doesn’t mean you love them any less; it simply means you’ve evolved in a different direction. This process can be painful, as it challenges the status quo and may lead to feelings of alienation.
  • A recent conversation with an old neighbor further illuminated these feelings. She shared that she would feel anxiety as she got closer to visiting her family. Moving away and being in a different environment forces one to think differently, approach life differently, and be open to new ways of being. It also allows for learning from various sources, which can be both exhilarating and challenging. This conversation, combined with watching a reel that echoed similar sentiments, helped put into words the complex emotions tied to outgrowing one’s family.

4. The Truth About Healing

“What no one tells you about healing is that it’s up to you. No one cares if you ever heal or grow. Nor does anyone have to understand, like it, or agree with it. Your healing is up to you, by you, and for you.”

  • Reflection: Healing is a deeply personal journey. This quote empowers us to take responsibility for our own healing process, independent of external validation or support. It’s a reminder that our well-being is our own responsibility, and we shouldn’t rely on others to fix us. Healing requires introspection, effort, and a willingness to confront our pain. While support from others can be beneficial, the ultimate work lies within ourselves.
  • At the beginning of my healing journey, I thought everyone needed to understand my process, be in the know about it, and offer positive feedback and support. I quickly learned that even expecting this from my husband and mom was unfair and unrealistic. It was selfish to put those expectations on them because healing is an intensely personal experience. I realized that it’s best to walk this path alone, allowing those who truly want to join to do so naturally. This understanding was liberating, teaching me that my healing journey is mine alone, and it doesn’t require the validation or approval of others.

5. Boundaries from a Pastor

“From a Pastor: ‘I have my boundaries. I’m not going to let anyone in, and I’m not stepping outside of them for anyone else’s comfort.’”

  • Reflection: Setting boundaries is crucial for maintaining mental and emotional health. This statement encourages us to respect our own limits and prioritize self-care. Boundaries protect our well-being and ensure that we don’t sacrifice our needs for others’ comfort. They help us maintain a sense of self and prevent burnout. This quote is a powerful reminder that it’s okay to say no and to prioritize our own peace over pleasing others.
  • I had to learn the hard way to set and maintain my boundaries. The only way to get through a toxic mother-daughter relationship was to have strict boundaries and not feel guilty about it. It was incredibly challenging, but necessary for my well-being. Establishing these boundaries allowed me to protect my mental health and maintain a sense of self. It also taught me that setting limits isn’t about pushing people away; it’s about preserving your peace and ensuring that relationships are healthy and respectful.

6. Belief from Others

“Most of the time your family, friends, and coworkers believe in you more than you do yourself.”

  • Reflection: Often, those around us see our potential more clearly than we do. This quote serves as a reminder to trust in their faith and support as we pursue our goals. Self-doubt can be a significant barrier to success, but recognizing that the people who care about us believe in our capabilities can be incredibly motivating. Their confidence in us can help bridge the gap between our insecurities ad our aspirations, encouraging us to take risks and strive for greatness.
  • At work, I was asked to do something I had never done before. True to form, I procrastinated until the very end, dreading the task. When I finally sat down to do it, I was surprised at how well it went. Not only was it not difficult, but I also did an amazing job, and my efforts were greatly appreciated. My supervisor told me, “I knew you could do it all along, you just had to believe you could.” This experience reinforced the idea that sometimes, others see our potential more clearly than we do ourselves.

7. Revisiting the Past

“The more you revisit a situation or experience, you’re not over it. Continuously bringing up something from the past is a sign you need to heal and grow from that experience.”

  • Reflection: Letting go of the past is essential for moving forward. This insight urges us to address unresolved issues and focus on personal growth. When we find ourselves repeatedly thinking about or discussing past events, it indicates lingering emotional wounds. Healing from these experiences requires acknowledging their impact, processing our feelings, and ultimately releasing them. This allows us to move forward unburdened by old pain, making room for new growth and experiences.
  • I heard this quote and it forced me to work overtime to heal so I wouldn’t constantly bring up the relationship with my mother. Ironically, her constantly bringing up her childhood helped me heal, knowing that she’s dealing with things she hasn’t gotten over. Understanding this allowed me to approach our relationship with more empathy and patience, recognizing that we were both on our own healing journeys.

8. Accountability and Critical Thinking

“The inability to take accountability and think critically for oneself is a result of a lack of compassion, empathy, and awareness.”

  • Reflection: This quote emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and accountability in personal development. It challenges us to cultivate empathy and compassion in our daily lives. Taking responsibility for our actions and decisions is crucial for growth. When we lack empathy and awareness, it becomes difficult to understand the impact of our behavior on others. By developing these qualities, we enhance our ability to think critically and act with integrity, fostering healthier relationships and a more fulfilling life.
  • So often, I try to explain to my brother, who has a “tell it like it is” attitude, that his lack of understanding and empathy is causing people to distance themselves from him. Wanting to always put people in their place and be so cold doesn’t allow for a safe space and turns people away. I’ve seen firsthand how his approach affects his relationships and try to encourage him to develop more compassion and awareness. It’s a reminder that taking accountability for our actions and being empathetic can significantly impact our connections with others.

9. Starting Over

“If what you’ve been doing the last (fill in any number) years hasn’t worked or garnered the happiness desired, what do you have to lose by starting over? If what you’ve been doing isn’t working, why hold on to it because you’ve invested time? Relationships, jobs, and anything else draining your resources and happiness.” 10 MENTAL HEALTH REMINDERS

  • Reflection: Sometimes, the hardest but most necessary step is to start anew. This passage encourages us to let go of what no longer serves us and embrace new beginnings. Holding onto unfulfilling relationships, jobs, or habits out of a sense of obligation or fear of change only prolongs our dissatisfaction. By being willing to start over, we open ourselves up to new opportunities and possibilities that can lead to greater happiness and fulfillment.
  • There are many people who remain with the same company for years, saying, “I’ve invested so much.” Similarly, I had a coworker who was deeply unhappy in her marriage. She knew her husband was cheating and was both physically and verbally abusive. Despite this, she felt that because they had been married for 20 years and had four kids, it was too much to throw away. This story exemplifies how the fear of starting over can keep us trapped in situations that are detrimental to our well-being. It’s crucial to recognize when it’s time to let go and prioritize our happiness and health over past investments.

10. Embracing Change

“No one was put on this earth to remain the same. So when someone says, ‘you’ve changed,’ take that as a compliment. So often people expect and want us to be the same version of ourselves that they’ve known and make them feel comfortable.”

  • Reflection: Change is an inevitable part of life. This quote reminds us to celebrate our growth and view change as a positive evolution. When others remark that we’ve changed, it’s often because our growth challenges their comfort zones. Embracing change means recognizing it as a natural and necessary part of our journey. It signifies progress, learning, and adaptation, which are essential for living a fulfilling life.
  • After visiting my family many times, they would tell me that I’ve changed or that I act differently. It used to offend me. But then I heard a woman reply to the same criticism by saying, “You’re right, I did change, and it’s for the better. No one is supposed to be the same person they were yesterday, last year, or 10 years ago.” This response resonated deeply with me. I now see change as a necessary and positive part of life. Embracing change means acknowledging our growth and striving to become better versions of ourselves, despite others’ discomfort with it.

These quotes and stories have not only offered me valuable insights but also provided a framework to reflect on my own life experiences. I hope they inspire you to think deeply, grow, and embrace the journey of personal development. Enjoy the rest of your day, and may these reflections bring you clarity and peace.

Darkness Doesn’t Last Forever: Finding Hope in the Storm

Yesterday, as I ventured out to do some errands, I was met with dark and cloudy skies, wind, and a cast of grayness. The rain poured down so heavily my visibility was almost nonexistent, and it felt as if the gloom would never lift. But then, something beautiful happened when I walked out the store. Despite the rain still coming down, the sun broke through the clouds, shining brighter than before . And to put a cherry on top I looked up and a vibrant rainbow appeared in the sky.

green mountain under rainbow

Instantly, this reminded me of an important life lesson: darkness doesn’t last forever. Just as the storm passed and gave way to light and color, our toughest times are often followed by moments of joy and clarity.

The Storms of Life

We all face dark and stormy periods in our lives. These can come in many forms—personal loss, professional setbacks, health challenges, financial difficulties, or emotional struggles. In the midst of these storms, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and hopeless. Even at some point wanting to throw in the towel. The darkness can cloudy our vision, making it hard to see a way forward. We may feel as if the storm will never end, and the weight of our troubles can be almost unbearable.

The Power of Persistence

However, just as with the weather, the key is to persevere. No storm lasts forever, and neither do the challenges we face. By enduring and pushing through the tough times, we allow ourselves the opportunity to witness the brighter days that follow. It’s important to remember that the sun is always there, even when hidden behind clouds. Our moments of light and happiness are waiting to break through, often when we least expect it. When we feel like we’re about to break, that’s when the light will begin to peak through. HAPPINESS ISN’T A DESTINATION

The Symbolism of the Rainbow

The rainbow that appeared after the storm is a powerful symbol of hope, happiness, and renewal. Rainbows have long been seen as a sign of promise, indicating that even after the darkest times, beauty and joy can emerge. They remind us that life is a balance of both rain and sunshine, and that both are necessary to create the fullness of our experiences.

Embracing the Light

When the sun shines through the rain, it serves as a sign for finding light in our darkest moments. It encourages us to look for the positives even when we are struggling. It’s about finding those small glimmers of hope and holding onto them. These moments of light can come from various sources—support from loved ones, personal achievements, or simply taking time to appreciate the beauty around us.

Moving Forward with Hope

As we move through life, it’s essential to carry the lesson of the rainbow with us. When faced with adversity, remind yourself that this too shall pass. Tough times don’t last. Embrace the idea that after every storm, there is potential for renewal and joy. Allow yourself to feel the rain, but also be ready to welcome the sun when it shines again.

The experience of witnessing the sun break through a storm and seeing a rainbow reminds us that darkness is temporary. No matter how hard it rains or how dark it gets, the light will eventually shine through, bringing with it new opportunities for happiness and growth. So, the next time you find yourself in the midst of a storm, remember to hold on and look for the rainbow that follows. It’s a beautiful reminder that brighter days are always ahead.

The Power of Language: How Your Words Shape Your Mindset

Language is a powerful tool that shapes our thoughts, emotions, and ultimately our reality. The words we choose can either empower us or hold us back. By being mindful of our language choices, we can shift our mindset from one of limitation to one of possibility and growth. Here are ten examples of common phrases and their more empowering alternatives that can positively influence your mindset.

selective focus photography of hustle and bust text

1. “I’m stuck” vs. “I haven’t figured it out yet”

Saying “I’m stuck” implies a sense of helplessness and finality. It suggests that there’s no way forward. On the other hand, “I haven’t figured it out yet” acknowledges that you are in the process of finding a solution. It emphasizes that with time and effort, you will overcome the challenge.

2. “I can’t do this” vs. “I can learn how to do this”

When you say “I can’t do this,” you shut down the possibility of growth. Reframing it to “I can learn how to do this” opens up the potential for learning and improvement. It shifts your focus from your current limitations to your capacity for growth.

3. “It’s too hard” vs. “This is challenging, but I can manage it”

Labeling something as “too hard” can make it seem impossible. Instead, saying “This is challenging, but I can manage it” acknowledges the difficulty while affirming your ability to handle the situation. It reinforces your resilience and problem-solving skills.

4. “I’m not good at this” vs. “I’m improving at this”

Saying “I’m not good at this” can discourage you from trying. Switch your choice of words to “I’m improving at this” to focus on your progress rather than your current skill level. It encourages a growth mindset and motivates you to keep practicing.

5. “I’ll never be able to do that” vs. “I can work towards that”

Declaring “I’ll never be able to do that” closes the door on future opportunities. Instead, “I can work towards that” recognizes that achieving your goal may take time and effort, but it’s within your reach. It promotes perseverance and long-term planning.

6. “This always happens to me” vs. “I can change my approach”

Saying “This always happens to me” can make you feel like a victim of circumstances. Refocus it to “I can change my approach” to take control of the situation. It empowers you to take action and make changes that can lead to better outcomes.

7. “I failed” vs. “I learned something valuable”

Viewing a setback as a failure can be demoralizing. Instead, saying “I learned something valuable” highlights the lessons you gained from the experience. It transforms a negative event into a stepping stone for future success.

8. “I’m overwhelmed” vs. “I’m prioritizing my tasks”

Feeling overwhelmed can paralyze you. Shift your language and mind to “I’m prioritizing my tasks” to take a realistic approach. It shifts your focus from the chaos to the steps you can take to manage your workload more effectively. 5 PHRASES TO REMOVE FROM YOUR VOCABULARY

9. “I have to do this” vs. “I get to do this”

Saying “I have to do this” can make tasks feel like burdens. Instead, “I get to do this” frames them as opportunities. This subtle shift in language can make even mundane tasks feel more meaningful and enjoyable. We’ve all heard “I get to go to work, instead of I have to go to work” example.

10. “I wish I could” vs. “I’m going to make this happen”

Wishing for something can feel passive and unattainable. Speak it to existence “I’m going to make this happen” to commit to taking action. It empowers you to take the necessary steps to turn your wishes into reality.

The words we use have a profound impact on our mindset and how we approach life’s challenges. By choosing language that empowers and uplifts, we can cultivate a more positive and proactive outlook. Next time you catch yourself using limiting language, try reframing your words to open up new possibilities. Remember, your mindset shapes your reality, and the power to change it starts with the words you choose.

Simple Saturday Self-Care Agenda: Refresh and Rejuvenate

Saturdays are a perfect time to focus on self-care and rejuvenation. After a long week, taking a day to prioritize your well-being can help you recharge and prepare for the week ahead. Here’s a simple yet effective self-care agenda to make the most of your Saturday. This routine includes drinking plenty of water, deep conditioning your hair, shredding old mail, starting a new book, doing a little more decluttering, and, most importantly, resting.

woman in white long sleeved shirt holding a pen writing on a paper

1. Sleep In a Little

Start your self-care Saturday by allowing yourself to sleep in a little longer than usual. On Saturdays I typically allow my body to gradually wake up. I sleep in a little longer and let my body tell me when to get up. Give your body the extra rest it needs after a busy week. Adequate sleep is essential for physical and mental health, helping to improve mood, boost cognitive function, and increase energy levels. Set no alarm or a later one, and enjoy the luxury of waking up naturally. Sleep has helped me tremendously as I’ve made it a priority.

2. Drink Plenty of Water

Start your day by hydrating your body. Some days I may slack on the amount of water I drink. Typically on Saturday is my day to drink as much as I can. Drinking plenty of water is essential for maintaining good health. It helps flush out toxins, improves skin complexion, boosts energy levels, and supports overall bodily functions. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water throughout the day. To make it more enjoyable, you can infuse your water with slices of lemon, cucumber, or fresh mint. DIY Cucumber Lemon Water GREAT REFRESHER

3. Deep Condition Your Hair

Next on my self-care agenda is to give my hair some TLC with a deep conditioning treatment. After a week of exercise and styling products, your hair deserves some extra TLC. Choose a deep conditioner that suits your hair type, apply it generously, and let it sit for the recommended time. While you wait, you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea. My favorite tea at the moment is Ginger and Honey. This treatment will leave your hair feeling soft, hydrated, and revitalized.

4. Shred Old Mail

Decluttering is a powerful way to clear your mind and create a more organized space. I’m going to spend some time shredding old mail and documents that we no longer need. This simple task not only helps protect your personal information but also reduces clutter. I turn on my oldie but goodie station, get some water, and a snack and shred away. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment as you see the stack diminish.

5. Start a New Book

There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a good book. I’m working on reading more. Whether you prefer fiction, non-fiction, or self-help, choose a book that interests you and dive in. Reading is a great way to relax, reduce stress, and stimulate your mind. Get comfy, cozy, and relaxed and allow yourself to get absorbed in the story or the knowledge you’re gaining.

6. Do a Little More Decluttering

In addition to shredding old mail, I’m going to tackle a closet to declutter. You don’t have to tackle everything at once; even small steps can make a big difference. Focus on one area, such as your closet, a kitchen drawer, or your bathroom cabinet. Sort through items, decide what to keep, what to donate, and what to throw away. Decluttering helps create a more organized and serene environment, which can positively impact your mental well-being.

7. Rest

Finally, make sure to prioritize rest. After a week of hustle and bustle, your body and mind need time to unwind. Whether it’s taking a nap, meditating, or simply lounging on the couch, give yourself permission to rest without feeling guilty. Resting is crucial for restoring energy, improving mood, and maintaining overall health. Listen to your body and give it the relaxation it deserves.

By following this Saturday self-care agenda, you can create a balanced day of productivity and relaxation. Sleeping in a little, drinking plenty of water, deep conditioning your hair, shredding old mail, starting a new book, doing a little more decluttering, and resting are all simple yet effective ways to take care of yourself. Enjoy your Saturday and remember that self-care is not a luxury, but a necessity for a happy, healthy life. Your self care requirements are different from mine. Do what you need to refresh yourself. Have a great weekend!

Overcoming a Moment of Social Anxiety: My Father’s Day Experience

Father’s Day was meant to be a day of celebration and joy, and my husband had decided that a trip to the pool would be the perfect activity for our family. I had to overcome a moment of social anxiety before I could have some fun. Thankfully the kids were on board, as they are older and we’re no longer cool to hang out with. We were all excited, especially since it was his special day, and he had chosen something we could all enjoy together.

It was early afternoon when we arrived at the pool, and to our surprise, it wasn’t crowded. We took off our swimsuit covers and applied sunscreen. My husband and the kids immediately headed towards the slide, giddy and ready to race each other on the slide.

However, as I stood there, ready to join them, an unexpected wave of social anxiety washed over me. I found myself frozen, unable to remove my swimsuit cover. For reasons I couldn’t explain, I was suddenly overwhelmed by self-consciousness and the fear of being judged.

For two minutes, which felt like an eternity, I stood there telling myself, “I’ll just sit here and watch them.” I watched as my family, full of energy and excitement, made their way towards the slide. It was supposed to be a fun day, and here I was, stuck in my own head, unable to move. 4 EVERYDAY EXPERIENCES THAT GETS US ANXIOUS

Then, a voice inside me snapped me out of it: “Girl, what are you doing? They’re almost at the slide!” In that moment, I realized that my fears were holding me back from enjoying a beautiful day with my family. I decided not to let my anxiety ruin the experience.

With renewed determination, I took a deep breath, removed my dress, and sprayed myself with sunscreen. I was ready to join in the fun. To immediately overcome and take my power, I walked in front of everyone that was lounging on their cots and took the long way to get into the pool. I ran towards the slide to catch up with my husband and kids, I felt a sense of liberation. The anxiety that had paralyzed me moments before seemed to vanish with each step I took.

Once I joined my family, we had an amazing time. We laughed, splashed around, and made memories that I will cherish forever. Overcoming that brief moment of social anxiety allowed me to fully engage in the day’s activities and enjoy the happiness that comes from being with loved ones.

Reflecting on that day, I realized the importance of pushing through moments of discomfort. Social anxiety can be debilitating, but it doesn’t have to control our lives. By challenging our fears and stepping out of our comfort zones, we can experience the joy and fulfillment that lies beyond our anxieties. That Father’s Day at the pool taught me a valuable lesson: sometimes, we need to remind ourselves to live in the moment and embrace the joy that life has to offer.

WHY BUYING THINGS YOU DON’T NEED ISN’T SELF CARE

We are living in a time where overconsumption and consumerism has easily equated self care to buying the latest gadgets, trendy clothing, and other non-essential items. Yes, a little retail therapy can provide an instant gratification that lasts just as long as a TikTok video. But genuine self care is nurturing your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing and this cannot be achieved by acquiring more stuff.

Retail therapy provides the illusion of self care. It’s touted as a quick fix to stress or anxiety when in actuality it leads to more stress and anxiety. Once the instant gratification wears off, the process of finding the next thing to buy to give us that high begins. When true self care is figuring out why the material needs are there to provide happiness. Find out how to be happy without. Retail therapy provides you with debt, empty happiness, and too much meaningless stuff taking up space. The debt, mental and emotional clutter from the stuff, counteract the intended purpose. Your peace has been shattered by stuff.

”Buying things you don’t need and can’t afford isn’t self care.”

True self care is about the simple things in life. Focus on your diet, strengthen your muscles, getting outside, laughing more, getting your check ups done, and healing your insecurities by going to the source of them. Healing whatever pain and trauma you may have to ensure you are better for the relationships you have in life. True self care is being financially informed, aware of your spending habits, and making good choices. You can practice great self care by creating an environment of calm and peace. Keeping your mind and physical space decluttered.

Yes, taking a bath or shower is an instant mood booster. But you don’t need an overly priced body wash to take your daily shower. Purchasing a new gym outfit isn’t going to help you shed the pounds faster. Find something in your closet that’s old and can get sweaty. A $40 water bottle is unnecessary. As long as you wash and moisturize you don’t need a 20 step skin care routine. Take it from a self proclaimed beauty junkie. In fact, the more simple my routine became the better my skin health became. 3 SELF CARE MOMENTS FROM LAST WEEK

Self care is free. Self care is simple. Self care is finding a deeper connection with yourself. As you prepare for the warmer months focus on having experiences and not things. Get outside. Enjoy nature, music, people, food, and good conversation. When you go home be grateful for the moments, and prepare to do it all over again.

PUTTING THE PHONE DOWN TO EXPERIENCE LIFE FIRST HAND

This past week my husband and I were reflecting upon the last 3 weeks and the emotional high of our son graduating from high school. Beginning the ending of April with his award ceremony to prom and finally graduation and all other senior activities in between it was an emotional high that we’d never forget. All the preparations, shopping trips, photo shoots, parades, dinners, and engagements we were like hamsters on a wheel. We wanted to experience and support him without regret.

Amongst all that, I was repeatedly asked from family, friends, coworkers, and even fellow parents “Mom how do you feel?” I would always respond “I don’t know yet.” First I was in mom mode. Ensuring my baby had the experience he wanted. Secondly, I was purposefully remaining in the moment. And I didn’t want it to be about me, this was his time. LIFE IS GOING TO LIFE

Which lead me to the thought of me sitting in the stadium at graduation and not for one moment I picked up my phone. As my husband and I were discussing it, those 3 weeks or so was a blur. I remained in the moment so well that I experienced those moments first hand. What is that you may ask?

How often do we go on vacation or attend events and without a thought, immediately the phone is out and camera is rolling. If we think about it, many of our most precious moments that we can’t get back were experienced through a lens. Experiencing certain moments through a lens only captured what’s in that square. Sitting at that graduation I can see photographically the entire stadium. Where people sat. The mom’s perfume smell that sat in front of me. The baby crying 2 rows down. I was in the moment. Reflecting on the award ceremony I was the same. I hugged my son, watched him walk to his seat. Get with his friends and then I sat.

I ask, are you living life first hand or through a lens. I once heard one of my OG YouTubers I watch say she doesn’t vlog anymore because she missed the experience of some milestones with her kids because she picked up the camera. She said I was seeing it the first time with my viewers instead of embracing the moment.

Do I have great photos. I absolutely do. We had family there that gave us the grace to enjoy our son while they took amazing videos and photos. I know what some might say, but we want to share. That’s also an amazing thing to do. But as I told my mom, even the happiest moments are the most precious and not everyone is privileged to experience those with us. I see most people post photos before the graduation or event is even over. Which brings me back to it’s about him and not me.

As the summer begin and you go out more, I challenge you to put your phone down and experience life first hand. The photographic memory and all around sensory experience will be better than any capture in a square. Have a great day!!

6 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT SIDE HUSTLES BEFORE YOU BEGIN

If you’re looking to supplement your income most likely you’ve Googled or searched side hustles. If not, on every social media platform you are bombarded with people telling you how to make a $1000 a day. Side hustles have become vital avenues for those who are seeking financial independence, an additional stream of income, or to diversify their career. However, there are many things to know before starting immediately as most influencers will tell you.

As someone who started their own blog, has been an Upwork freelancer, Poshmark seller, and freelance writer for other publications I’ve learned many lessons along the way. FINDING BALANCE IN LIFE: CAN YOU REALLY HAVE IT?

  1. Do your research. Whether you’re selling items, blogging, freelancing, or pet sitting, you need to spend time researching. One of the best tricks I do is read reviews and comments that aren’t highly regarded. For example, I’ll watch a negative review about Poshmark before I watch or read 10 articles of someone gloating about it. Things such as your username, thumb nail pic, photo, when you list or post, how you market yourself, the day and time you publish and the list goes on and on is vital to your success.
  2. Know Your Legal Risks. In every side hustle, there are legal risks. For example, if you do affiliate marketing there are legal risks for photos used and how you share links. As wells as the proper way to disclose the advert. Another example is if you are a pet sitter, and someone gets hurt on your watch you could be responsible for medical bills. Or if you are a ride share driver and get into an accident you could be liable for damages.
  3. Side Hustles Are A Real Business. So often you hear people say my hobby turned into a business. That’s true. You have to be passionate about your side hustle. However, it’s a real business that requires a great deal of planning. Most people will tell you to start today. Well, what’s your business plan? What are your expenses? Who is the customer, client, or target audience? What problem are you solving? If these questions aren’t thought out and answered you’ll find yourself blowing with the wind, losing money and motivation.
  4. You have to be tech savvy. Especially starting off and not wanting to spend or outsource on technology . You have to be your own marketing guru, troubleshooting tech, creative director, and so forth. Also technology is your best friend as it will give you the tools needed to stay organized and free some time up. Using automation, calendars, and apps to help propel your business. For example, there is an automation for me to share my listings instead of doing them myself. Automation for social media marketing frees up so much time. Use your tech wisely.
  5. Time management is key. You’ll often hear people say work your 9-5 and then spend 5-9 working your side hustle. Well everyone can’t do that. Growing any side hustle takes time, effort, and patience. You’ll want to create a schedule that’s realistic for you and your lifestyle. Knowing over time it may have to adjust or change. Going head first and giving up everything can result into burn out and other areas in your life lacking. However, if you just wing it and pour sprinkles into it you’ll get out of it what you put in.
  6. Side Hustles can take you down a bumpy road. Once starting your business know that circumstances out of your control will affect you. Always be in learning mode. Willing to expand your business model. And never give up. There will be times you question everything. But remember your why.

Side hustles are a great way to diversify your income, add extra money to your savings, and help you fulfill your dreams of being a business owner. As you begin it’s important to stay focused, informed, and be adaptable. You can avoid some common pitfalls by understanding the intricacies of legal requirements, time management, demand, and the market. All it takes is one step at a time. Good luck!!!!!!!
