Let’s think about this. You wake up with you. Every time you eat, shower, exercise, work, laugh, cry and sleep you are with you. You have to answer to yourself. So why not make it a great relationship. If you are stuck with yourself, have the greatest laughs, memories, and fulfillment form within. In the meantime, if you have a great relationship with yourself, you’ll have great relationships with others.
Check-in with yourself every so often. Fulfill your urges to love and receive love by being around family and friends. Mostly importantly love yourself first. Believe you can do whatever you put your mind to. Have faith that you can over come. The good and the bad. When we have a great experience it’s easy to ride a high or wave. But eventually we’re going to come back down. So how do you handle that high wearing off? On the other hand, don’t run from adversity, fear, guilt, or shame. It’ll only come back around to you.
You are the one you talk to the most. Have great conversations with yourself. Ask yourself questions. I know they say it’s not good to answer yourself, but answer yourself. I found it’s the best thing I could have done. Tell yourself the honest Gods truth. You can’t get away from you.
The one person that you inspire the most, is yourself. What you tell yourself you are going to believe. Furthermore, how you motivate from within will show on the outside. Finally, take care of your body, trust yourself, believe in you, and listen to yourself. Mental note: you can’t get away from you.
This week I just wanted to enjoy the spring weather. All week the forecast is in the upper 70’s and on a couple of days we shall approach the 80 mark. My plan is to be outside as much as possible.
Sunday: Oh, I lost an hour of sleep. But spring is finally here and the sun is shining bright. I decided to go for a walk early afternoon to enjoy the weather. Boy, was it beautiful with a nice breeze. I was able to pray, meditate, and cleanse my mental. It felt amazing. Afterwards we had a great lunch and I did some editing. WEEKLY BLOG: NEW PERFUME, DETOX, & VISIT FROM AUNT. Later that evening we relaxed, watched a ton of college basketball, and enjoyed a great evening at my moms with her and my aunt.
Monday: Great start to the week and good morning. The sun is beautiful and the weather makes me want to stay home and go outside. However, work needs to be done. Had a great day at the office not too busy for a Monday. But was able to get some work done. The only thing on my agenda is to go for a walk as soon as possible because this 70ish degree weather feels great. Later in the evening the kids decided to lay around and thats when I took the chance to go out for a walk. It’s always nice to go out after work and commuting all day. This is my best form of therapy. I literally escaped and felt 10lbs lighter mentally and emotionally.
Tuesday: Ok, I think the timechange and springing forward has began to bother me. Usually in the morning I’m not too draggy. But I have realized in the last couple of days, I’ve been a little sluggish to get up. Hopefully my continual detox, walking, and night routineSelf Care: Sleep Routine helps me get back on track. However, I was feeling in the spirit after watching a great Joel Osteen sermon on Youtube. Work was the usual but I was able to get in some great note taking, brainstorming ideas, and some good reads. Later that evening, of course I went out. But this walk was special because I asked my daughter to go and she eagerly agreed to my surprise. It was a great time being able to connect and talk to her while we walked.
Wednesday: This morning started great. I usually do the morning drop off with all three kids. However, my son asked dad to go so he decided to go in late to work to give my son his request. Afterwards we decided to have breakfast at our favorite cafe before heading to work. This set up for a great rest of the day. I’ve learned when moments come, take them and enjoy them. Later on, we had an early dinner and the hubs and I decided to go out together. I love spending time with him and walking. Furthermore, we get to talk and have great conversation without the kids around. Lastly, I had to order my mom a new phone because I do take care of certain things for her.
Thursday: We had a horrible night and morning. So my youngest son, was up every two hours because he couldn’t breathe, sneezing, and sniffles. Well it was only allergies flaring up. He’d been outside all week so far and this is typical at this time of year. But because he didn’t get sleep, nor did I, we just stayed home and recouped. Of course, I always use this time to catch up on editing, writing, and contracts. All while doing things around the house. Throughout the day he progressively got better. My oldest son was having allergy flare ups as well, but he opted to go to school and tough it out. The evening was capped early. After walking, I got a cup of tea DIY…Starbucks Medicine Ball and turned it in.
Friday: T.G.I.F. TGIF: SELF CARE IS ALL AROUND YOU This day started great. Not as warm as previous days but still spring is in the air. My agenda for today was to clean and get some things done because we have plans for the weekend. As always the kids are happy it’s the weekend. They had testing this week so they wanted to order takeout and relax the rest of the evening. Naturally we didn’t want what the kids chose. So we, instead had an early date night and that was lovely. We enjoyed ourselves and the restaurant. The temps had dropped a little so I was ready to go home and binge watch T.V. under a throw. Because I had walked every day, I decided to give my body a break, take the evening off, and relax.
Saturday: My mom phone arrived. However, her phone case hasn’t yet. The last phone she dropped and it broke, so she’ll get the new phone with case in hand. We have plans to go to a basketball tournament later, so I went out for a walk early. It was beautiful and breezy out. Late afternoon, we decided to head to the tournament early so we could see several games. Once we purchased tickets, we could watch as many games as we wanted. But first, my youngest son didn’t want to go, so we dropped him off with grandma and my aunt. The games were very exciting, the kids played great, and we enjoyed ourselves. Afterwards, we had a great time at dinner. In the end we picked up my son, and turned in.
That was my full productive week. I had time with myself, my family, and went out with my husband, and enjoyed some fun activities, and worked. Some weeks I don’t balance it well and others I do amazing. But that is balancing everyday life. No two days will ever be the same, nor do I want them to. That would be boring. Embracing each day as it comes keeps me on my toes, challenges me, and breaks me out my comfort zone.
Have a great week.
P.S. Weekly Blog is designed to show the realistic life of a working mom, balancing life, family, and myself.
Cleanse I’ve been a little loose lately on my eating habits. I don’t follow a specific diet. However, I try to keep a no carb, low sugar, low sodium, and non dairy diet. This is what works for me and I receive results that I’m happy with it. So to start the spring season, I’m focusing on cleansing my body as well as my mental. Drinking lots of water, making healthy low sugar smoothies at home, high protein, and colorful veggies. It’s been about two weeks since I’ve been sticking with it, and my body is thanking me for the cleanse.
As for my mental, I wanted to take a pause. Sometimes when you have so much going on and working on, you can lose track. For a moment I’m going to not do too much, as I prayed and meditated for clarity and direction. I want to make sure I’m supposed to be juggling my blog, being a freelancer, working outside the home, and other projects I’ve started. I don’t want to spread myself too thin and not enjoy all what I do.
Add Color Accents To the Home Adding color to the house is something that visually satisfies me and make me want to be at home. First, I have to have some kind of door hanger for every season or holiday. This year I went with a very colorful butterfly in many different shades of blue with accents of all the spring colors. Next, I added some pillows and throw to the couch. Lastly, the spring candles are out and right now my favorite is “Bamboo and Waterlily Bliss” by Glade. The pale green color of the candle along with the pillows adds just the hint of spring to the inside.
Purchase A New Plant For little over a year now, I’ve been trying to work on my green thumb. So far so good. None of my plants have died on me. The aloe plant is thriving and growing wildly. The baby peace lily has been amazing and is doing the best. My large peace lily is looking ok, but she still a work in progress. However, I want to add another plant. Adding plants has been a great challenge, project for me to focus on, and helping me expand my horizons to step outside my comfort zone to try new things.
Get A New Phone Case Seems simple enough right. Well something as simple as getting a new phone case can add some style, change of scenery, and personality. This is a very inexpensive way to add color, style, personality, and variety with little effort. Also this will give you a little confidence boost. Sometimes starting with the smallest change can give you the push needed to keep going or go big.
Search New Recipes There is a ton of content out there. Search for new recipes for the spring. Refresh your weekly menu to add variety, increase the amount of healthy food, and get rid of boredom. Learning new recipes gives you an outlet to be creative. Explore and expand with flavors, colors, and texture with food. In the meantime, you are busy creating, growing, and enhancing yourself.
Motivational Podcast Podcast are one of the popular mediums to consume content. Search and find an inspirational podcast that speaks to what you are needing or wanting. Seek motivation on where you’re trying to go and how you can get there. Having this podcast can provide you with inspiration and motivation at a moments notice. It’s useful for a nice spring walk, while you’re on break at work, while you’re meditating or praying, waiting for your kid to get out of practice, while in shower or bath tub, or cooking. Furthermore, a great podcast will allow you to keep your mental and emotional tank full. Therefore, help your mental health status stay in the green.
Purge Old Winter Clothes A good way to say good bye to winter is to get rid of old clothes that you can’t fit or not going to wear next year. This makes room for new springinspiration for you to spruce your style up. An added bonus is to sell them. My favorite thing to do is list it on Poshmark . Poshmark is very simple to sell old items you no longer want or need. Not only are you decluttering, you’re making a little something off of it. In addition, becoming a seller catapults you into creating a new business venture for yourself.
Those are my springself care habits for 2022. They are simple, effective, and something that will benefit us in more than one way. It’s a new season, and a fresh start for you to get your spark back, renew it, or switch it up. Whatever you need to do this spring, do it for you.
You don’t have to be sick, ill, sad, depressed, or anxious to have a mental health check in. Just as we have our annual check up with our doctor and dentist, we shall have a mental health check up as well. It is best to be proactive than reactive. Preventive measures allows us to catch symptoms early.
There is this misconception that you have to be “suffering” from something in order to practice mental healthself care. When in actuality, your mental health is just as important as your physical health. We need to treat our mental health like we do our physical health, oral health, financial health, and spiritual health.
Once a year we go to the doctor to check blood pressure, weight, aches and pains, hypertension, diabetes, and other preventive health measures. In the same, we shall check in with a therapist at least once a year. Sometimes we don’t even know how the events of the year may have effected us. There is absolutely nothing wrong with speaking with a therapist once or twice a year. If you can’t see a therapist someone at church, a family member or friend you trust, or journal every so often will help. You’d be surprise as to what comes out.
As individuals we work hard to earn income to pay our bills, take care of our families, and to do the things we enjoy. Banking affirmations, knowing your worth, and creating boundaries is building your wealth for your mental health. We have to have so much in the bank, that when something do happens to us it doesn’t break us. Also when we do hit a bump in the road our bank isn’t depleted.
Lastly, we go to church and worship. Keep believing and having faith is how most of us make it through the day. Just as we believe our Lord will carry us. We must believe in ourselves. Don’t doubt yourself, trust yourself, believe in your talents, and be good to yourself.
Having a mental health check up isn’t just for those who aren’t feeling 100%. All of us should check in with ourselves. That is the only way we can be a great mom, wife, sister, friend, coworker, husband, father, man, or woman. Once we have checked in, it’s important to give back, spread the love, and encourage others to check in as well.
This week the only thing on my mind is to detox my body and cleanse it out. I decided to eat Gumbo, it just didn’t sit well with my body. Water, lots of it, fish and veggies was the only thing on my diet this week.
Sunday: Woke up early to a very nice sunshine coming through the window. Instantly puts me in a good mood and ready to have a great day. The only thing on the agenda was braiding my daughters hair. She has very long and thick hair. It usually takes me two and half hours to do. The day started with breakfast as usual, no cafe coffee run. We opted to make our own at home. Then, of course, I dump a load of laundry in the washer. Next, about mid afternoon, I started my daughters hair which took me to early evening. Because my back usually hurts quite a bit when I finish her hair, I relax the rest of the time. So dinner (Gumbo) was already done and all I had to do was reheat it. I showered and binged watch ”Our Kind of People” the rest of the night.
Monday: So I woke up to a horrible stomach ache. This wasn’t your usual stomach ache that says you need to go to the bathroom. I was literally bent over holding my stomach at 5a.m. I tried to walk around, drink water, and go to the bathroom but it wasn’t getting any better. I pushed through and started my morning routine in getting the kids up and breakfast started. I wasn’t going to call in so I just pushed through. Very slow and quiet day at the office so I left early and went to the store to get everything I needed for a cleanse. Water, veggies, fish, and nighttime tea was the only thing on the menu for me all week. Later in the evening, I went for a walk and relaxed. To help me stay on track I’ve been using this water bottle https://amzn.to/3aVi78F that my daughter picked out to keep me motivated.
Tuesday: Still feeling a little blah, but making it. The water keeps me in the bathroom, but it feels good to flush my system out. DIY Cucumber Lemon Water GREAT REFRESHER After thinking about it, I think the Gumbo had too much salt in it. My body just didn’t react well. I usually keep a low sodium diet. Thank goodness the office was quiet and I was able to catch up on some work. We are preparing for my aunt to visit us for a while on Saturday. The evening we spent relaxing getting ready for a short day tomorrow.
Wednesday: Short day for all of us. The kids have a half day so I naturally will as well. I’m feeling better but sticking to my cleanse and low calorie diet. After getting home early, I decided to do a quick mid week cleanup. As a family of five, it gets cluttered quickly with everyone going to school and working. Once again, we are preparing for snow days ahead at the end of the week. So now, we’re all on stand by because we don’t know the expectations. Later in the evening, I enjoyed a workout, working on some contracts, and proposals.
Thursday: Snowing as we awake. But the kids still have school. However, by mid afternoon it tapered off. It was a very quiet day at the office. I was able to get a lot of notes, ideas, and proposals done. The snow is expected to pick up in the evening and continue on to the night. I decided to do a store run just in case we get snowed in again. As of the evening around 7p.m. the snow began but to our knowledge school wasn’t cancelled. So we went on with our evening as if everyone had to get up in the morning.
Friday: I am feeling much better. Received a call at 5:30a.m. from the school saying the day was cancelled. Of course the kids were happy, but I still had to make it to the office. Thankfully, we didn’t get what was expected. I was able to drive to work with no problem and had a quiet successful day at the office. My husband decided to leave work to stay home with the kids. It was still kind of cold, so we decided to stay in for the night.
Saturday: My new perfume is expected to arrive. I ordered me a new perfume (Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty) because I just wanted to and my Tom Ford Velvet Orchid finally ran out. At the moment perfume, is one of my favorite self care things I do to make myself feel good. The morning started great with breakfast. I am finally feeling like myself. Relaxed and watched tournaments of basketball because March Madness is approaching. Then I had this itch to clean. But first, I went to the store and stocked up on supplies and new oil diffusers. My aunt finally made it and it’s always fun when she visits. Later on we went out to dinner and then had ice cream again.
Have a great week everyone!!!!

Free yourself and let go of that grudge you been holding on to. Holding on to a grudge only hurts you, not the person you’re holding it against. Keeping that anger, pain, hurt, and frustration is only allowing them to hold power as well as continuously hurt you over and over again. FORGIVE For Your Mental Health
In order to hold on to a grudge you have to let it consume your every thought, desire, and action. No matter what you do, you consistently revert back to what the person said or did. Therefore, your inability to live and enjoy life has been halted. It takes a lot of time, strength, and persistence to hold on to a grudge. Instead use that strength , passion, and persistence to fulfill a dream or goal of yours.
That grudge you’re holding has hindered many other relationships. Because guess what, your other family and friends are tired of hearing about it. They are tired of you repeating and replaying the same conversation over and over again. In return, they don’t want to be around you because you’re bringing their mood down. Don’t let someone else effect the way you show up in other relationships.
In reality, while you are angry with a frown on your face, that person who hurt you is smiling, happy, eating good food, enjoying vacation, and the sun outside. They are sleeping well every night, having a good day at work, and enjoying their family. On the other hand, you off alone, thinking about what was said, and putting wrinkles in your face by frowning so much. The things that you used to enjoy you don’t even think about doing.
Don’t let someone continuously hurt you by holding a grudge. The grudge is hurting you not them. Release and let go so you can regain your power and strength back. First if you’re able to, have a conversation. Without any expectations. Your goal is to explain how their actions hurt you. Either they will understand and apologize, or they won’t. Regardless you’ve done your part by getting it out. Next figure out what position they hold. Do you want them in your life close or at a distance. From their move forward with the relationship accordingly.
It’s the end of February and I know March is around the corner. We’re expecting very warm spring like temps this week. So my mind, subconscious, and body is ready for spring.
Sunday: It’s bright and sunny early. The temps are already on a rise and the first thing I did was open the blinds to let some sunshine in. Had a huge breakfast with the family instead of going to the cafe. After that I began laundry as usual. There is just something in me, that can’t not do anything. Even if its running the washer, dishwasher, or vacuum. At the end of the day I have to feel productive. I’m working on it. But we ended up couch sitting and watched the highly talked about documentary ”The Tinder Swindler.” Later on in the evening, we got ready for the week and enjoyed our evening relaxing.
Monday: Oh was it rough getting the kids up early back in school mode. But the morning went on without a hitch. It’s feeling like spring as I wake up and realize, it’s brighter than normal. After dropping the kids off at school, I had a great moment to myself drinking coffee and brainstorming ideas. Listened to some really great inspirational videos before heading off to work. OMG!!! Work was busy. But it felt good though after being quiet for quite some time. While having a great warm sunny spring like temp day, I enjoyed the evening with a walk outside. It felt amazing. The smell, sounds, trees, and wind was very therapeutic.
Tuesday: Great start to the morning. Experimented with my breakfast by adding some protein waffles with my eggs and bacon. HEALTHY LIFESTYLE: 5 SIMPLE AND QUICK BREAKFAST IDEAS They turned out really good. After my husband thought they wouldn’t be very tasty. Another very busy day at work. It seemed as if the phone wouldn’t stop ringing. But a busy day, makes the time go by faster.
Wednesday: It’s still very spring like out and I’m enjoying every bit of it. Once again it was a little busy at the office. This is always expected this time of year, but the clients have been a little testing. Testing my patience. But I get through it with a smile. Starting today the tail end of the week is going to busy because it’s spirit week at my son school and he’s participating everyday. Tonight it’s karaoke and power puff football. It made for a great evening with the spring like weather. It was good to get out and see the kids have fun.
Thursday: Spring is still in the air with the sunshine. The office was back to quiet as normal. Later in the evening I had to run errands and exchange some shoes for my son. Of course, the kids didn’t want to hang out. Instead chose to stay home. However, that left for me and the hubs to have an impromptu ice cream date at Cold Stone Creamery. We hadn’t been there for years and it was delicious. It felt good to be able to sit out and have a moment while enjoying ice cream. WEEKLY BLOG: CALM AND STILLNESS
Friday: Busy start of the day. As my daughter has art club meeting early in the morning. Getting started early and out was great. I had to stay late at work but it wasn’t too crazy. The clients actually behaved. Later on my son went to the talent show at his school while the rest of us went to Dairy Queen for blizzards. My daughter was kind of bummed out because she wanted to go, but it was for the kids in his school only. I must say, it felt so wierd just having two kids. As a mom I felt like I was missing something. Later that night, we picked him up, he had a great time, and enjoyed being home.
Saturday: I didn’t personally have too much planned. But my son was going to hang out with his friends before the dance later on in the evening. So naturally, I left my schedule and to do list, empty because I knew I was in chauffeur mode all day. I didn’t mind and was excited, because he is on the spectrum and breaking out of his shell.
Well that was my week. Hope you all had a great week.
P.S. Weekly blog is designed to show the realistic life of a working mom balancing life, family, marriage, and myself.
Whether we want to believe it or not, there is someone out there we all inspire. You could be going through the toughest of times, but someone is watching you in awe. I know it’s hard to believe. The saying is so cliche but it’s true.
The last couple of months I’ve noticed the smallest influence I had on my daughter. I began to notice every time I repainted my nails or did my manicure, within a day or so, she would change her nail color to match mine. Again on Sunday I decided to do my weekly manicure, and last night she did hers, and without fail, she came downstairs matching me.
Some may think it’s not a big deal. However, even the smallest thing you do, someone is watching. Others would say that is what she’s suppose to do. And they are right in a sense. Of course, I want to inspire her and give her the best example.
No matter what you are doing or where you are working someone is out there inspiring to be like you and mimic how you go about your life. You may feel less than your best, or you don’t have anything to offer. But you do. You have so much to offer. There is a special gift that was specifically created for you. The smallest gesture will have the greatest impact.
Someone out there is watching and inspired by your story. That coworker that you think is rude to you or doesn’t like you, they are inspired by you. That lady at the coffee shop sees your strength and light. The grocery store worker that bags your groceries is inspired by you. How you show up and smile everyday for your children is an inspiration. Family members are in awe of your inner beauty and wisdom.
If you’re out there working and grinding yourself to exhaustion but feel like you should give up, please don’t. You are an inspiration to yourself and someone else. You may not know it now, but you are a light for someone. So keep shining bright and being the best version of you. The greatest freegift you can give to someone is hope.
Happy International Women’s Day!!!! Have a great day!!!!!
Have you ever looked up one day and asked yourself ”what am I doing?” Or have anyone ever asked you a serious question to which you should have had an meaningful answer, and your response was ”I have no idea.” Well most likely, you may just be going through the motions of life.
What is going through the motions of life? It’s when you wake up everyday and do what is necessary to make it to the next. There isn’t any thought, purpose, intention, or meaning behind what you’re doing. It’s almost like you’re doing it because you have to, there is no other choice in your mind, and this is your idea of getting things done or taking care of business. You go to work to pay bills. Take your kids to school. Cook dinner and bathe. All to do it over again the next day.
You know you are going through the motions of life when you do the same thing every single day, without blinking. It’s like an automatic robot.
Each movement or thought you have doesn’t have a purpose, meaning, or enjoyment. Nothing you do throughout the day is intentional for your mental wellbeing. The actions you do throughout the day doesn’t add value to your life. It may appear that everything is for survival. You probably don’t enjoy your job but it pays the bills. Most likely the same meals get cooked weekly. Your weekends have no fun, variety, spontaneity, or life to it. It’s all about getting ready to start your work week. What Self Care Is NOT
Another way you may realize you going through the motions of life is you don’t question anything. Meaning, do I enjoy my job? If not, what am I doing in my spare time to get closer to the job of my dreams. When was the last time I did something for myself? Do I have a hobby or interest that take my mind off of things? Have I taken care of my mental health today? Is there a moment in the day where I smiled, laughed, felt good, made someone else feel good, or had a moment to myself. Did I give myself time to breathe, think about nothing, think about what’s next, pray or meditate?
It’s perfectly ok to question.
Why am I going here? How is doing “XYZ” going to make me better, happier, or more money? What is the alternative to ”XYZ?” Do I have another option? How much time will this take of mine? Will this have long term effects on my financial stability? No matter what is required or asked you have the right to ask questions. The more knowledge you have, the better informed decision you can make.
We all have fallen into a slump of just keeping the wheel turning. But at some point, you have to stop and make sure there is intention and purpose behind everything you do.
If you feel like you’re walking around like a zombie and have no idea where you are, then you’re probably just going through the motions of life. Give yourself a break and recoup.
This week my intentions were to let the days come natural to me. Once again, the kids had a 4 day weekend and getting in and out of routine hasn’t been the easiest. But even with the snow days 3 weeks in a row we adjusted on the fly well.
Sunday: The morning was great and started a little late. It felt good to get up and let the day come natural. Because the kids didn’t have school on Monday (presidents day) I knew we could relax a bit extra. My husband and I didn’t do our Sunday morning cafe coffee run because my mom came over and we talked the time away. After she left it was business as usual with cleaning, laundry, and having an early dinner. Because my husband also took off to have a 3 day weekend I didn’t want to be overwhelmed with work and not spend time together. The evening for me began early. After a workout I was able to enjoy some quality T.V. time.
Monday: So I was the only one who prepared to get up this morning and go to work. It’s presidents day and the kids are out of school and my husband took off work. However, upon getting up and getting dressed I had a light bulb moment, and remembered we were closed as well. I had to text a coworker to remember and she confirmed for me. Another day off. Yayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!! I was super excited to be off with the entire fam and have nothing on the to do list. But since I was up early I proceeded to clean, have coffee, do laundry, and binge watch ID Discovery. The rest of the day was spent enjoying a peaceful relaxing day.
Tuesday: Unseasonably warm today. No wonder we’re expecting snow and ice again on Thursday. Back to business as usual with school and work, but made it a point to go out and enjoy the spring like temps before winter weather rolls in again. Had a very quiet and slow day at the office. Spent the evening walking outside enjoying the sun.
Wednesday: My morning was going great. Always a pleasure to wake up, fix hot breakfast for my kids and husband, and see everyone off. That is, until my husband calls me and says there is something wrong with our truck. He immediately took it to the mechanic and now my morning has hit a fork in the road. Instead of having a moment to myself after I drop the kids off, I have to meet him at the mechanic and pick him up. Because we’re expecting another round of snow and ice we knew we wouldn’t have answers today. They said they would be closing early and heading home.
I’m proud of myself because we came home to let it process and figure out our next steps before heading to work. Usually when something like this happens it sends you into a frenzy. I knew I was off tomorrow so it wasn’t a big rush to get it fixed right away.
Thursday: Snow day as expected. The kids are off and so am I. The temps are drastically cold and different from two days ago. After my husband left I decided to sit and have a moment to myself before the kids woke up. However, that was short lived, because we got a call about our car and what was wrong with it. I was really expecting the worst. But it turned out not to be that bad. But due to the weather we wouldn’t be able to pick it up until tomorrow. I was in gratitude mode all day. More importantly grateful for me keeping my calm and not worrying myself sick over the car. After a gloomy snowy day I was ready for the weekend. We received a call late that the kids would have school. WEEKLY BLOG: CALM AND STILLNESS
Friday: What do you know? At 5:30 a.m. we received a call from the school saying road conditions were too bad, and they were cancelling school all together. This is the third week in a row that they’ve had 4 day weekend. But there is always a brighter side. The teachers got a much needed break. We still had to pick up our car from the mechanic and I chose to truck it through the winter weather and go to work. The kids stayed home with dad and enjoyed yet another day off. I did my usual Friday grocery store run and went on a cleaning spree. You know sometimes you just get into a cleaning mode. Because it was cold out still, we spent our Friday evening watching T.V. and staying warm.
Saturday: Not too much planned. My boys had hair cut appointments and I chose to spend the afternoon cleaning up the ice melt that was tracked in from outside. I was able to have a great moment of brainstorming ideas, blogpost, and edit. I was able to get a workout in early because we wanted to take the kids out for dinner. However, they opted to order in and didn’t want to go. We, of course, took advantage of the moment and decided to go have our Saturday night date night since they didn’t want to hang out with us. It was refreshing after being snowed in the last couple of weekends. We capped the night off binge watching Netflix.
My take away from this week was everything will work out. Take advantage of the time that I have to spend with my family. Don’t let things out of your control ruin your day or week.
Have a great day and week!!!!!!
