Your Life, Your Way: Embracing Your Perfectly Imperfect Routine

The other day, I came across a video of a woman sharing her “morning routine” for her first day back to work after maternity leave. She had a toddler, a baby, and a 13-year-old bonus daughter. In the video, her morning flowed seamlessly: waking up at 5 a.m., praying, journaling, working out, having a calm breakfast, and getting everyone ready—all before heading out the door by 7 a.m.

It looked flawless. Too flawless.

As a mom of three myself, I couldn’t help but laugh. My mornings? Let’s just say they don’t resemble a polished reel or video. Even with the best intentions and a 5 a.m. alarm, my mornings often involve unexpected spills, missing shoes, last-minute snacks, and a chaotic yet beautiful rush to get everyone out the door.

Here’s the thing: videos like that? They’re entertainment. They’re edited. They’re curated to inspire, sure, but also to impress. And that’s fine—as long as you don’t start comparing your reality to someone else’s highlight reel.

Because here’s the truth: your life, your routine, and your way of doing things are perfect for YOU.

Why Your Life Is Enough

You don’t need a perfectly lit video or an hour of “me time” in the morning to feel like you’re thriving. Your mornings might be messy, unpredictable, or even downright chaotic, but that doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re living a life that’s real, honest, and uniquely yours.

Instead of striving for someone else’s version of perfection, focus on these truths:

  1. Your Routine Is Yours
Maybe you wake up early, or maybe you’re still half-asleep while wrangling the kids. Either way, you’re showing up for your family and yourself in the best way you can.
  2. Life Happens in the Messy Moments
The spilled coffee, mismatched socks, and rushed hugs before running out the door? That’s the good stuff. Those are the moments that make your life uniquely beautiful.
  3. You’re Enough As You Are
Whether you have time to journal and pray in the morning or you’re squeezing in a quick moment of gratitude while packing lunches, you’re doing amazing. Your efforts, big or small, are enough. Win the Day: Celebrating Your Daily and Weekly Victories

When you see those picture-perfect routines online, remind yourself: they’re not realistic. They’ve been edited and carefully curated. Your life isn’t a show; it’s a journey, and it doesn’t need to look flawless to be meaningful.

So, give yourself grace. Celebrate your wins, no matter how small. Find joy in the little moments—even the chaotic ones. And most importantly, live your life in the way that feels best for you.

Your mornings, your routine, and your life are already perfect—because they’re YOURS. Keep going, mama. You’ve got this. 💕

Embracing the Midlife Hustle: Why Your 40s Are the Perfect Time to Start a Business

Who says your 40s are for slowing down? If you’re a woman navigating the ups and downs of teenagers, college-aged kids, marriage or the single life, and menopause, you’re already juggling more than most! But the good news is: now might just be the perfect time to start your own business. Yep, that’s right! You’re wiser, more experienced, and have the kind of grit that only comes from years of managing chaos—and that’s exactly why your 40s can be your entrepreneurial sweet spot.

After many years filled with incredible career experiences, relationships, challenges, and opportunities, one thought consistently creeps back to the surface: I don’t want to work for someone else. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with working for someone, but I’ve come to realize that my idea of life is different. I believe that your job or career should fit into your life—not the other way around.

Why Your 40s Are Prime Time for Starting a Business

First things first: you’ve been around the block a few times, and with that comes a level of wisdom, patience, and resilience that some younger entrepreneurs are still developing. You’ve likely raised children through toddler tantrums, teenage mood swings, and maybe even sent some off to college. You’ve navigated a marriage or long-term relationship, or doing it all being an amazing single parent, and you’re possibly going through perimenopause or menopause with all its quirks. All of these life experiences have shaped you into someone who knows how to handle pressure, adapt to change, and think on your feet. YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO START A SIDE HUSTLE

And let’s not forget the freedom that comes with being in your 40s. The kids are older, more independent, and you’re likely finding yourself with more time to think about you. Maybe you’ve hit a point where you’re craving something that’s just for yourself, a way to channel your creativity, skills, and passions into something new. Starting a business now isn’t just about making money—it’s about creating a meaningful venture that’s aligned with who you are at this stage of life.

Here’s the beauty of starting a business in your 40s: you have a unique perspective that no one else has. Your life experience, whether it’s raising kids, managing a household, working in a career, or all of the above, has given you insights and ideas that can turn into a successful business.

Maybe you’ve been dreaming of launching that health and wellness brand that speaks to midlife women like yourself. Or perhaps you’re considering a blog, podcast, or online shop that supports other moms navigating the wild ride of parenting teens and college kids while managing their own wellness. Whatever your idea, your journey has prepared you for this moment.

But Wait…One Second

Let’s clear up a few things first. You might have heard that you’re too old to start a business, or that entrepreneurship is a young person’s game. Wrong. Starting a business in your 40s isn’t just doable—it’s a smart move. You’re at the age where you’ve accumulated knowledge, resources, and connections that younger entrepreneurs are still building. So, yes, you’re more than equipped to crush it.

Another myth? That starting a business is too risky at this stage of life. Sure, entrepreneurship comes with risk, but the truth is, you’re probably more financially stable now than you were in your 20s or 30s. You’ve learned how to manage money, you’ve developed a network, and you’ve got the discipline to make strategic decisions. Plus, the digital age has opened up so many low-cost options for launching a business—from online shops to virtual services—that don’t require massive upfront investment.

If you’re feeling inspired to start your entrepreneurial journey, here are a few tips to help you get started:

  1. Find Your Niche: Reflect on your unique experiences to create a business that serves a specific audience—whether it’s other moms over 40, women navigating menopause, or a passion you’ve always wanted to explore. What problem does it solve?
  2. Start Small: You don’t need to quit your day job or invest thousands of dollars upfront. Start small, test your ideas, and let your business grow organically. Remember slow and steady wins the race.
  3. Use Your Network: At this stage of life, you’ve likely built a community of friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. Don’t be afraid to tap into those connections for advice, partnerships, or even your first customers.
  4. Balance Work and Life: You know what it takes to keep everything in balance, so set boundaries to ensure that your business fits into your life, not the other way around. Make time for self-care, family, and you.
  5. Stay Persistent: Just like you’ve persisted through sleepless nights with babies, teenage drama, and life’s ups and downs, persistence is key in business. You’ve got the resilience—now apply it to your entrepreneurial dreams.

Starting a business in your 40s isn’t just about adding another layer to your busy life—it’s about creating something that’s aligned with who you are and where you’re headed. It’s about turning your life experience into something impactful and meaningful, while also allowing you to grow personally and professionally.

So, to all the women over 40 who are managing motherhood, marriage, menopause, and thinking about their next big adventure: go for it! Don’t let age or stage of life hold you back from pursuing your dreams. You’ve got the wisdom, the grit, and the passion to make it happen.

It’s Never Too Late to Start the Day Over: Finding Inspiration from a Midday Reset

The other day, I came across a motivating and encouraging post that I’m going to use the next time I feel overwhelmed . It was from a mom of four children, all five years old and under, who’s juggling the demands of being an entrepreneur and homeschooling her kids this year. As you can imagine, her days are filled with chaos, stress, and exhaustion. But what really caught my attention was what she did when it all became too much. Instead of pushing through the overwhelm, she decided to do something many of us don’t think about: she started her day over—even though it was well into the afternoon.

Feeling stressed and tense, she chose to reset. She took a long, soothing shower, exfoliated her skin, washed and conditioned her hair, and treated herself to a facial mask. Then, she put on clothes that made her feel cozy and comfortable . After this self-care break, she was able to proceed with the rest of her day feeling calm, joyful, and smiling again.

So often, when we feel overwhelmed or frazzled, we think we’re stuck in that feeling for the rest of the day. We think we have to push through, even when our energy is depleted and our mood is off. But this post was such a beautiful reminder that you can start the day over at any time. It’s never too late to hit the reset button, take a breather, and approach the day from a place of calm and peace.

When we hear the term “midday pick-me-up,” we usually think of things like grabbing a snack, doing a quick workout, making a phone call, or even taking a nap. But this mom showed me that sometimes, the best way to reset is to do something purely for yourself. Take that shower. Exfoliate your skin. Change into something that makes you feel good. You don’t have to wait for the next day to start fresh—you can start over whenever you need to.

Live by Your Own Rules

What’s so empowering about her story is the idea that you don’t have to live by anyone else’s rules. Just because it’s mid-afternoon doesn’t mean you can’t restart your day. You’re in control of your time and your well-being. Sometimes, it’s essential to press pause, take care of yourself, and prioritize what you need in that moment. It’s not selfish—it’s self-preservation. SELF CARE IS A LIFESTYLE

As women, mothers, or entrepreneurs, we often feel the need to keep everything together and power through our days no matter how stressed or overwhelmed we feel. But we can flip the script. We can choose to take care of ourselves first and do what’s best for our mental and physical well-being, even if it means pausing everything to start the day over.

This post was a refreshing reminder to always put yourself first. Life is full of challenges, stress, and unpredictability. It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of tasks, responsibilities, and the constant pressure to do it all. But the truth is, you matter too. Your peace, your joy, and your mental clarity are just as important as everything else on your to-do list.

Whether it’s a hot shower, a facial mask, or slipping into clothes that make you feel good, it’s important to give yourself moments of care and kindness. When you take time for yourself, you’re able to face the rest of your day with more grace and ease, just like that mom did after her reset.

This inspiring story is a reminder that we all have the power to start the day over, no matter how far along we are. It’s never too late to reset, take a moment for yourself, and return to your day with a clearer, calmer mindset. The next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, remember: you don’t have to wait for tomorrow to start fresh. Take a moment to breathe, reset, and do something just for you. Your day—and your peace of mind—are worth it.

MOTHERHOOD STILL INSPIRES ME

I’ll repeat until the end of time; being a mom is the most important position I’ll ever hold. Having the responsibility to raise three children to be their most successful, responsible, and authentic self is a ride of a lifetime. It’s rewarding, fulfilling, motivating, educational, inspiring, and a journey. Tapping into motherhood requires patience, communication, and selflessness.

Being a mom inspires me to better myself. I pray each day for strength to be the mom they need me to be. So often as parents we can make the mistake in guiding our children into who we think they should be instead supporting them into who they are meant to be. Supporting each one of my kids requires me to unlearn, relearn, and communicate with them at their respective stage and communication style. BEING A MOM INSPIRES ME

Learning triggers, what they are looking for from me, and how to deliver to get them to understand has required me to check myself and my communication style. Also having that balance of hearing them and making decisions as mom. Sometimes, yes, as a mom, we have to make tough decisions they won’t like. But it’s the best decision at the time.

The more they grow, they encourage me to take care of myself. My level of self care and how I navigate each day is to promote a healthy balance. I want them to learn from me instead of just hearing me say it. That has required me to take a deep internal journey into my self . Heal, grow, and learn. The more confidence I instill in them, the more my confidence builds for myself. I don’t want them to just do as I say and not as I do.

Believe me, kids are very smart and they will know when you’re aren’t practicing what you preach. You’ll lose them.

Learning to let go. Trust what you’ve taught them. Trust them in their decision making. Also knowing as a mom I can’t prevent everything. There are going to be times they fall. That is a part of their learning and growth. Knowing how to uplift and build each child back up is key to their success.

My kids inspires me to be patient, listen to my emotions, communicate and listen. Having the confidence to know trust your gut. Make the best decision with what you have at that time. Live life without regrets. Never stop learning. My oldest teaches me to live simply. Remain even toned. Never get too high or too low. My daughter teaches me to be me authentically. No matter what’’s happening around you stay in tuned to who you are and make decisions that are best for you. My youngest son teaches me to be empathetic. Have compassion. Be understanding and don’t give up.

To all the moms out there, you are doing great. Trust yourself. Treat yourself nice. Happy Mother’s Day!!!!!!!

BEING A MOM INSPIRES ME

Being a mom inspires me to be the best me I can each day. I know there are 3 little people looking at me in every move I make. I can fail at every other job I have, but being a mom I will give every bone to this position. God trusted me with these 3 beautiful children to lead. I will do my best to lead with humility, grace, integrity, and gratitude.

white ceramic teacup

Being a mom has taught me how to communicate better. Having a teen son who’s on the very low end of the spectrum encourages me to be patient, articulate, and show through action. A daughter who is in the middle with a bubbly artistic personality brings out my creativity. Meeting her and speaking her language has pushed me outside my comfort zone. My baby who is sensitive, loving, and wants the best for everyone increases my empathy and compassion towards others. SINGLE MOM SELF CARE TIPS: SIMPLE AND EASY

In an effort to pull the best out of them I had to learn how to effectively communicate my feelings, thoughts, views, and love. How my husband and I show love and affection teaches my kids how to love and show affection. It inspires me to give them an living an example.

However, how I speak to myself first they are paying attention. The choice of words, tone of voice, and interactions inspires me to be mindful. How I may think I”m showing up verses what they interpret can be two different things. That inspires me beyond the home.

Being a mom inspires me to go after every dream and goal I’ve had come in my head. I can’t tell them be all they can be, without doing so myself. I don’t believe in do as I say, and not as I do. Children learn from our actions, even the bad decisions and choices we make. Allowing my kids to see me do what I love and live my life, will show them all things are possible. It inspires me to tap into my creative side.

Being a mom inspires me to think about things differently. Not only from my perspective, but from others as well. How I handle conflict resolution, discomfort, pain, bad news, financial problems, or any other life matters that arise I keep in mind they are watching. This is where children pay attention the most. How do we handle a set back, death in the family, disagreements, and how we bounce back shapes how they will approach said situations.

Being a mom absolutely inspires my self care. I must be in the best mental shape possible to show up for them fully and give them what they need. Keeping my physical self care visual shows them the importance of taking care of their temple. Having my “me time” as a mom, allows everyone to feel free to take a moment. Budgeting and planning gives them financial literacy early.

Lastly, being a mom inspires me to give back. Even when it’s my last of anything, showing grace and gratitude will always come back. Everything isn’t about me and neither in life. Most importantly, giving time, love, and an lending ear is more valuable than any dollar. #MothersDay2022

I hope you are inspired where ever you are!!!!!!
