Lately, I’ve been shifting my mindset around one word that keeps coming up: decluttering. For me, it’s no longer just about organizing my home—it’s about finding peace, reducing stress, and creating space to breathe in everyday life.
But here’s what I’ve learned: if you dive headfirst into a big project expecting instant results, you’ll likely end up overwhelmed, drained, and ready to give up. I know because I’ve been there. DECLUTTER YOUR SPACE & RENEW YOUR SPIRIT
More times than I can count, I’ve told my husband, “This weekend I’m going to declutter the entire house.” And let me tell you—it never went as planned. I’d start with all this energy and vision, but the weight of doing everything at once left me frustrated and defeated.
Finally, I gave myself grace. I reminded myself it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Progress counts, even if it’s slow.
And eventually, the never-ending collection of throws and blankets. Victory.
With every little task completed, I felt lighter, freer, and more motivated to keep going. What I once thought had to happen in a singleweekend was actually more sustainable and rewarding when done little by little.
And here’s the truth: this doesn’t just apply to decluttering. Whatever your goal may be—whether it’s building healthier habits, saving money, writing, exercising, or even working on your mental health—small, consistent steps add up to big, lasting results.
So, if you’ve been putting pressure on yourself to do it all at once, pause. Breathe. And give yourself permission to start small. One drawer, one conversation, one step at a time.
Because sometimes the most powerful change comes not from sprinting, but from walking steadily toward the bigger picture. 🌿
The other day at work, I was reviewing a schedule and couldn’t help but notice how packed it was. Without thinking, I turned and asked, “Why would you overbook yourself like this?”
The response? A casual shrug and, “That’s just what we do—overwork and over-schedule ourselves.”
And that’s when it hit me. Somewhere along the way, we’ve normalized the idea that being constantly busy is a good thing. That the more we cram into our day, the more valuable we are. That exhaustion somehow equals success.
But let’s be honest—over-scheduling yourself isn’t a sign of productivity. It’s a fast track to burnout.
The Hidden Costs of Overbooking Yourself
When you constantly fill your schedule with back-to-back commitments, you might feel productive in the moment, but over time, the effects add up. WELLNESS: EVEN THE STRONGEST NEEDS A BREAK
1. Burnout Becomes Inevitable
You’re not a machine. Running at full speed every day with no breaks will drain you mentally, emotionally, and physically. The signs of burnout—exhaustion, irritability, lack of motivation—start creeping in before you even realize it.
Over-scheduling creates a cycle of stress and anxiety. You’re constantly thinking about what’s next, rushing from one thing to another, and never truly present in the moment. Your mind never gets a chance to rest.
3. Productivity Actually Decreases
Ironically, the more you pile onto your schedule, the less effective you become. Overworking leads to fatigue, which slows you down, affects your focus, and makes simple tasks feel overwhelming. You end up getting less done, not more.
When every minute of your day is booked, there’s little to no room left for what truly matters—family, self-care, relaxation, and joy.Life isn’t just about checking off tasks; it’s about meaningful experiences.
5. You Lose the Ability to Enjoy the Present
Always being busy means you rarely stop to just be. Instead of enjoying the moment, you’re constantly thinking about the next thing. You miss the beauty of slowing down, appreciating life, and simply existing without a to-do list.
If you’ve fallen into the trap of over-scheduling, you’re not alone. But here’s the good news—you don’t have to live this way.
What Can You Do?
Say No More Often – Not every opportunity needs to be a “yes.” Protect your time.
Schedule Downtime Like It’s an Appointment – If you don’t plan for rest, it won’t happen.
Prioritize What Truly Matters – Focus on the tasks and commitments that align with your goals and values.
Give Yourself Breathing Room – Leave gaps in your schedule so you have time to reset.
Shift Your Mindset – Success isn’t about how much you do—it’s about how well you live.
We glorify being busy as if it’s a measure of our worth. But your value isn’t determined by how much you do—it’s in how well you take care of yourself.
So, next time you look at your schedule and feel overwhelmed, ask yourself: Am I overbooking myself, or am I making space for the life I actually want?
Life is a journey—and some days we’re thriving, while others we’re just trying to make it through. Whether you’re in a season of transition, uncertainty, or rebuilding, I want to offer you a few gentle reminders. Think of this as a little food for thought to nourish your mindset and keep you going:
Your peace is sacred. Protect your energy by learning to let go of what doesn’t deserve space in your mind or heart.
2. No matter what, someone will always have something negative to say. Live your life anyway.
You can’t live for the approval of others. People will judge you whether you do everything “right” or not—so you might as well do what makes you happy.
3. You are the only one responsible for your happiness.
It’s not your partner’s, parent’s, or friend’s job to make you happy. It’s yours. Build a life you love—on your terms.
4. If something doesn’t work out, don’t give up. Try again and again.
Failure isn’t the end—it’s feedback. Reset, rethink, and show up again. Your consistency is your power.
In our fast-paced digital and trendy world, the pursuit of balance in life seems like an elusive goal. Everywhere you turn the topic of finding balance in your life is upon you. But, can you truly ever have “balance?” We juggle careers, relationships, personalgrowth, health, and countless other responsibilities, often feeling like we’re on a tightrope, struggling to find stability. Or my favorite, we’re often that hamster on a wheel going no where fast. But amidst the chaos, is balance truly attainable? How do we determine if we can ever achieve it?
What is life balance? First, let’s get rid of this notion that we can have the “perfect” life balance. And once we find or get it, we’ll sustain it. Balance doesn’t mean allocating equal time and energy to every aspect of your life. Rather, it’s about prioritizing what matters most to you at any given moment and allocating resources accordingly. Life is a journey, and as we travel through our journey our priorities will shift and change. We’ll have peaks and valleys. There will be light and darkness. Embracing this road, the changes, and different seasons will determine how well we “balance”.
So where do we begin seeking this balance in life? To determine if balance is achievable for you, start by identifying your priorities. What brings you joy, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose? Is it your career, relationships, health, hobbies, or personalgrowth? Reflect on what truly matters to you, both in the short and long term. From there, be intentional on what you want to achieve. After that’s clear drive your focus. What we put our focus into will grow.
Once you’ve identified your priorities, assess how you’re currently allocating your time and energy. Are you spending the majority of your resources on activities that align with your priorities? Or are you caught up in tasks that drain you without contributing to your overall well-being? Be honest with yourself and consider where adjustments can be made. As of late I started meal prepping to ensure I not only had lunch the next day, but lunch for my specific eating goals. This also give me the ability to switch my workout time to get me to bed earlier. MENTAL HEALTH AND SELF CARE IS FREE
Perfection is boring!!!!! It’s essential to understand finding balance in life doesn’t mean you’re striving to be perfect. Life is messy, and there will inevitably be times when certain areas receive more attention than others. Sometimes life will take you down a road where the only win for you on a given day is waking up and brushing your teeth. Embrace imperfection and give yourself permission to prioritize self-care and flexibility. Remember, it’s okay to say no to commitments that don’t align with your priorities.
Check out some of my current favorite indulgences that keep me comfortable, happy, peaceful, and organized. Also helps me maintain my sense of “balance.”
Mindfulness and living intentionally is important while trying to pursue balance. By staying present and synced to your thoughts, feelings, and actions, you can make conscious choices that support your well-being. Incorporate mindfulness practices such as meditation, deep breathing, or journaling into your dailyroutine to cultivate inner peace and clarity. If that’s not your thing, give yourself 5 minutes of silence to connect to you. Feel you. Hear you. What do you need? Check in with your plate that day. What have you eaten? What does your body need? Have you moved enough?
While you’re finding balance, ask for help. Achieving balance doesn’t have to be a solo journey. Reach out to friends, family, or a professional coach for support and guidance. Surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you to prioritize your well-being. Building yourself a foundational system that you can rely for honesty, encouragement, peace, comfort, joy, and direction . Also be mindful of the content you consume, how much, and the purpose behind the content.
Finally, be realistic about what balance means for you. Everyone “balance” in life looks different. Not everyone is seeking balance. Do what makes you feel good and able to navigate your day peacefully. It’s essential to adjust your expectations based on your journey. Your road may have more turns and hills. While others may be a little more flat. Understand that balance is a never ending journey that requires ongoing effort and adaptation. Celebrate small victories along the way and be compassionate with yourself during times of imbalance.
On a final note, while achieving perfect balance may be an unattainable ideal, finding harmony in life is within reach. By identifying your priorities, assessing your time and energy allocation, embracing imperfection, cultivating mindfulness, seeking support, and adjusting your expectations, you can navigate the complexities of life with greater ease and fulfillment. Remember, balance is not a destination but a journey—an ongoing pursuit fueled by self-awareness, intentionality, and compassion. #Bewell
