Simple Saturday Self-Care: Recharging After a Long Week

After a hectic week—especially one where my schedule’s been off due to my mom’s surgery—there’s nothing I look forward to more than a Simple Saturday Self-Care routine. It’s my chance to reset, recharge, and focus on the small things that make me feel refreshed. Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated; in fact, the best kind is often free and easy, giving you the space to breathe without adding more to your to-do list.

Here’s a glimpse into my Simple Saturday and why I think it’s so important to keep self-care low-key and effective.

1. Wake Up Naturally

Instead of setting an alarm, I let my body wake up naturally. After a long week, nothing feels better than a few extra minutes (or an hour!) of sleep. It sets a relaxed tone for the day, and I’m more energized without the sound of a loud alarm jarring me out of bed.

2. One-Hour Of Cleaning (And That’s It!)

I set a timer for one hour, and that’s all I dedicate to cleaning. Gone are the days where I spend my entire Saturday scrubbing and organizing, only to feel exhausted and like I’ve lost my day. Now, I tackle whatever needs to get done in that hour—whether it’s tidying up the kitchen, dusting, or putting away laundry—and once the timer’s up, that’s it! It’s so freeing to set limits on household chores and actually enjoy the day instead of getting stuck in a cleaning marathon.

3. Football and Breakfast with My Husband

After my hour of cleaning, it’s time to enjoy the best part of the day—breakfast and coffee with my husband while we watch college football. 🏈☕ There’s something about those quiet, shared moments that feels like the ultimate self-care. It’s relaxing, laid-back, and it gives us a chance to reconnect after a busy week.

4. Reading and a Little Beauty Care

Next, I carve out time for reading—a favorite book or catching up on some articles I’ve saved throughout the week. It’s my way of slowing down and letting my mind unwind. I will also take a few minutes to wash my makeup brushes. It’s a small but satisfying task that’s part of my self-care routine, ensuring my skin stays healthy and giving me a sense of accomplishment (plus, clean brushes just feel good!).

5. Relax, Recharge, Rejuvenate

The rest of the day is all about relaxing, recharging, and rejuvenating. Whether I’m lounging on the couch, taking a quick nap, or spend some time outside walking, the goal is to let my mind and body truly unwind. I’ve learned that self-care isn’t about ticking off a long list of activities—it’s about slowing down, keeping it simple, and doing things that nourish your mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Keep It Simple, Keep It Free

The beauty of self-care is that it doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive. Often, the simplest routines are the ones that give you the most peace. Waking up naturally, setting limits on chores, spending time with loved ones, and taking moments to rest and recharge are all things we can do at no cost. Self-care is about making time for yourself, listening to what your mind and body need, and enjoying those small moments that bring joy and calm.

So, if you’re feeling drained or overwhelmed, remember: self-care can be as easy as slowing down and enjoying your day. Keep it simple and let it refresh, recharge, and rejuvenate you from the inside out.

5 LUXURY SELF CARE TIPS ON A BUDGET

How can you have luxury self care on a budget? Focus on what you do best and nurture it. Listen to your body, mind, and heart to help you focus on what you need to soothe yourself. Any self care you do is a luxury to you. However, here are a couple of tips and tricks I use to mix things up and use my resources.

-Walk. Simple. Easy. Can be done in your neighborhood, treadmill, trail, or park. Lately, as the weather gets cooler and daylight becomes limited, I’ve explored walking the mall. That has been fulfilling, engaging, and fresh. I’ll go the last hour before it closes, and get a 3 mile walk in.

-Word search. One of my favorite hobbies or past times. Word search keeps me engaged, thinking, focused, and off my phone or television. Usually when I go to the dollar store I’ll grab 2 or 3. Again, affordable, great for your brain, concentration, and can be done anywhere. Keep one in your purse so while you’re in a waiting room, you can word search instead of scrolling.

”Caring for your body, mind, and spirit is your greatest and grandest responsibility. It’s about listening to the needs of your soul and then honoring them.”-Kristi Ling

-By Nature Vitamin C +Collagen Face Mask. Whenever I want to spend some extra TLC on my skin I’ll purchase a sheet mask. I love By Nature sheet masks because they fit my entire face including the big forehead. I actually see plumped, moisturized, and smooth skin after the 20 minutes. Because the sheet masks are extra soiled, I have enough serum left in the package to use the next day. One runs $2.49 or 4 pack on Amazon for $7.99. Doesn’t break the bank, have glowing skin, and spent quality time with yourself. SELF CARE IS A LIFESTYLE

-Press On Nails. I’ve always enjoyed doing my own hair and nails. About 2 months ago I decided to give press on nails a try, and never looked back. My manicures weren’t lasting too long. Redoing the mani throughout the week was becoming time consuming with my schedule and kids. Yes, I’ve tried long wearing, gel polish, instant dry, nail dry spray, and no matter what with my daily life it wasn’t lasting. With press ons, they don’t chip, last 2 weeks, give me a boost in my femininity, gives me more creativity, and something my daughter and I do together. Finally they are so good, people think I’ve spent money going to the nail salon. Depending on the brand we spend $10-$15 on a pack. We both get a set for 2 weeks and can rotate them out.

-Creating new recipes. Currently I’m loving my Coffee Mate Cinnamon Vanilla Creamer. Adding a drop of caramel sugar free syrup gives me a great cup of coffee or latte. Couple that with my cream cheese croissants makes my Saturday morning a chefs kiss. Other recipes I’ve been enjoying are homemade bowls. Why Chipotle when I can do that at home. Lastly, Mediterranean salad recipes. This gives me variety, lots of flavor, fulfilling, healthy, and easy meals. It’s literally using what you already have in the kitchen.

Those are a couple of examples of luxury self care. Focus on what you want to experience. How do you want to feel. What aren’t you getting. Expand your idea of self care. It’s yours. Have a great day!!!!!!

SIMPLE DAYS ARE THE BEST DAYS

So often we have this misconception that each day has to be filled with an event or something big happening. When in actuality, the simple days are the best days. As I’ve matured and go on this journey I love having a simple full productive day.

Expect To Have A Great Day

What Does That Look Like:

It starts off with me sleeping in with my husband. The both of us not getting up at 5a.m. and can lay there to watch the sun come through the window is peace, love, joy, and calmness. Hearing my kids gradually wakeup when they are ready instead of me waking them up to get ready for school I love hearing. To see their personalities and who likes to get up early and who likes to sleep in is amazing.

Next, it’s getting dressed in my comfortable lounge around house clothes, but still cute enough to go to the store. Having a moment getting showered, dressed, and ready for the day triggers the positive side of my brain. Doing my skincare routine and making sure I’m presentable and feel good about myself sets my mood.

After that, opening up blinds, curtains, and windows to let the natural sunlight and air come through. When you allow nature to come in, it opens your eyes, heart, and mind to a new spiritual realm. It makes you want to go out for a walk, lifts your spirits, and know darkness is only temporary. SELF CARE HABITS: 8 DAILY HABITS TO FEEL YOUR BEST

Fixing breakfast for my family and having the smell of coffee coming from the brewer makes me feel good and excites me. I love being a mom and wife. Taking care of my family is something I pride myself on. They are the air I breathe.

After everyone has had breakfast they break off and do whatever it is they heart desires. This is having a simple day that is the best. My daughter goes to draw and use her creativity. My sons and husband get in their time on the video game. While I, do laundry, edit blog post, post listings on Poshmark, do a quick tidy around the house, or go for a walk.

That may take a couple of hours and then my daughter and I will play in hair and makeup. She may want me to change her hairstyle while I go and play in new makeup I’ve purchased. Either way spending quality time with her is the best.

Well, now it’s early evening and we’re hungry. So we decide to go have dinner. Having dinner out is fun, great conversation with the kids, and good family time. The kids are talking without prompts and we’re all engaged because they aren’t distracted with their phones. After dinner we may go to the store and get ice cream or walk around because the kids just want to go buy ”something.”

Lastly, we go home unwind, shower, and wash the day off. Maybe watch some movie or find something to binge watch. Sometimes we get alone time because the kids are off doing their own thing and other times they may join us in whatever we watch.

The beauty of this simple day is that it was filled with love, family, gratitude, and variety. All while doing ”nothing” I was able to sleep in, spend time with my husband alone, have family time, get a little work done, and still have time to rest. I can’t ask for a better day.

Simple days are the best days. Don’t stress yourself out trying to ”make” the day fun or exciting. You are already fun and exciting. Focus on what you have and the small details and the best simple day will come to you. You don’t have to do anything extra to have a great day. When you wake up expect to have a great day no matter what.
