LIFT YOUR SPIRIT BY GETTING INTO THE SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAYS

There are many who suffer from seasonal depression. Or some just have the feels around this time of year. Lift your spirits by getting into the spirit of the holidays. Use the decorations, lights, treats, and festivities to your advantage by bringing light to your darkness.

If you’re missing a loved one, turn on some good Christmas music that reminds you of them. Talk about what they used to do this time of year and how they used to celebrate. In turn, you’ll feel motivated to continue their traditions in honor of them.

Don’t skip out on decorations or what you used to do because you’re not where you thought you’d be. Decorate, turn them lights on, watch Home Alone, drink a peppermint mocha, and enjoy being you where you are. Allow the lights from the tree to bring a little lightness to you. Allow the nativity scenes to remind you to have hope, peace, joy, and love for yourself and others.

Take up that invitation to the Christmas concert or play. Take advantage of all the festivities happening around your area. Many churches, schools, communities, and even the malls have events. Go out. Enjoy them. Meet people. Talk in person. Feed your spirit with community and fellowship.

If you don’t have the means to do what you’d like or hope for. That’s ok. Bake some cookies, create a homemade name tag, and give it out to those you love. A gift of food comes from love. Every year I try one of my grandmothers recipes, and fail. But I stand in that kitchen and say “Grandma help me not mess this up this year. I know you’re telling me what to do, but it’s not coming out right.” Use that kitchen time to connect with loved ones here and in the spirit. 10 MENTAL HEALTH REMINDERS

Often during this time of year, if someone is suffering, they run from it. They try their best to not participate or care. That’s not going to make it go away. If anything, it makes the holiday season feel like an entire year. Tackle it head on. Embrace everything holiday season. The result will be you finding a new way of thinking about the holidays and coping through your feels.

This weekend find a couple free things in your town to do. Get out and enjoy the season. Change your words about how you feel about this season. Instead of saying “I hate this time of year.” Or “I don’t like Christmas.” Say I’m going to embrace what this season has to offer me. I’m going to learn how to grow through my seasonal depression. The more you get into the spirit the better off you’ll feel.

HOLIDAY 2023 TIP: STOP STRESSING OVER GIFTS

I had an epiphany last year when it was time to purchase my two nieces a Christmas gift. I literally stood in TJMaxx and told my husband “this is it, I’m not stressing over gifts anymore.” This year my advice to you all, stop stressing over gifts.

For me personally, I’m not one to ask “what you want for Christmas?” I purchase what I think would make them feel good throughout the year. To me, that’s what a gift is. I saw this and I thought about you. If it’s truly about the thought that count, then some thought shall be put into it. If I have to ask you what you want that means I haven’t been present and paying attention to your words, conversation, texts, mannerisms, concerns, frustrations, and what made you smile.

No matter if you do like to ask, don’t stress over gifts. I get some want to get the person exactly what they want. If you like me and like to go blindly, don’t stress over gifts. My biggest stress when it came to gift giving was worrying about them not liking it. Or it didn’t come from a certain store or had a certain name on it. Every time I brought up what I thought was a great idea, I got shot down by family members saying they wouldn’t like it or they don’t care about that stuff.

For context, last year, I wanted to buy my niece a robe, planner, and some candles. She loves cozying up in her room and being to herself. And she’s thinking about starting her own cosmetics business. When it comes to clothes and shoes I wasn’t touching. In the long run I went with my plan and she loved it.

Either way, there are plenty of things to stress over. Gift giving shouldn’t be one of them. Give within your budget. Give out of love. Give reasonably. And don’t feel obligated to give to the entire neighborhood. Do what makes you comfortable. HOLIDAY 2021 MOTIVATION: TAKE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF

Be confident in your finances. Be confident in your relationships with others. Never let the outside influence how much you give. Or if you give at all. Either way it is perfectly fine. Merry Christmas!!!!!!

HOLIDAY 2021: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!! I hope you all have a safe, relaxing, and fun time with family and friends. Use this time to breathe and just be. You’ll get back to work soon enough. Enjoy being off and let yourself be free. EVEN THE STRONGEST NEEDS A BREAK

Whatever this holiday may look like for you, embrace it. There are many changes happening in everyday life, so some may not still get to gather for a multitude of reasons. If you are dealing with grief and loss, remember the good times. Celebrate as if they were still with you physically, because they are with you still spiritually.

If you are a family having financial difficulty, don’t let that sour your mood, weekend off, and holiday. Have a great Thanksgiving with what you have. Just because a million dollars gets spent doesn’t mean it will be enjoyable. You can still have an amazing time with less. Even if you can’t do what you used to, still do what you can and enjoy.

On the other hand, if you’re a family that has distance literally and/or figuratively, gather and send love anyway. Even if they don’t receive the love right away, they’ll have it to hold to for when they need it. Make a choice to do right and love regardless. I know it may be difficult. But remember forgiveness is for you not them. Also making the decision to do right instead of being right may just get things back on track.

Life is short. We can’t get this day back, time back, or holiday do over. Don’t waste it. Be you and take care of yourself.

I am very grateful and appreciative of everyone who has supported, stop by, commented, and like a post of mine. It means the world to me. Thank you all so much.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!
