Lately, I’ve been shifting my mindset around one word that keeps coming up: decluttering. For me, it’s no longer just about organizing my home—it’s about finding peace, reducing stress, and creating space to breathe in everyday life.

But here’s what I’ve learned: if you dive headfirst into a big project expecting instant results, you’ll likely end up overwhelmed, drained, and ready to give up. I know because I’ve been there. DECLUTTER YOUR SPACE & RENEW YOUR SPIRIT

More times than I can count, I’ve told my husband, “This weekend I’m going to declutter the entire house.” And let me tell you—it never went as planned. I’d start with all this energy and vision, but the weight of doing everything at once left me frustrated and defeated.

Finally, I gave myself grace. I reminded myself it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Progress counts, even if it’s slow.

So, I shifted my approach:

  • One weekend, I went through shoes. Accomplished.
  • Another weekend, we tackled clothes. Progress.
  • Then came closets. Step by step.
  • And eventually, the never-ending collection of throws and blankets. Victory.

With every little task completed, I felt lighter, freer, and more motivated to keep going. What I once thought had to happen in a single weekend was actually more sustainable and rewarding when done little by little.

And here’s the truth: this doesn’t just apply to decluttering. Whatever your goal may be—whether it’s building healthier habits, saving money, writing, exercising, or even working on your mental health—small, consistent steps add up to big, lasting results.

Have you been feeling overwhelmed, chaotic, anxious , can’t remember your to do list, and not with it? Well, take a look at your surroundings. Your home, car, office, closets, junk drawers, and any other space you occupy may have something to do with it. If those places are cluttered, messy, and everything is out of place, well it’s no wonder you are feeling stressed.

It’s no secret that a cluttered, disorganized space can leave us feeling overwhelmed and uninspired. However, by taking a time, day, or weekend to clean, declutter, and donate old items, we not only refresh our homes but also rejuvenate our spirits.

Declutter Your Space: Clutter has a way of weighing us down, both physically and mentally. When our homes are filled with excess belongings and disorganization, it can be challenging to focus and find motivation. That’s why decluttering is such a powerful tool for refreshing our living spaces and our spirits. Start by tackling one area at a time, sorting through items and deciding what to keep, donate, or discard. As you clear away the clutter, you’ll create space for clarity, creativity, and renewed motivation to flourish.

Tip: Give yourself a time limit based upon your lifestyle. Ex. If you haven’t worn it in a year or six months get rid of it or donate it. If you can’t fit it, donate it if possible. Don’t keep things for “just in case.” If that “just in case” hasn’t happened, then it won’t. Everything should have a place and there’s a place for everything. Too much STUFF can be overwhelming.

Donate Old Clothes to Charity: As you declutter your home, consider donating old clothes to charity. Not only does this act of kindness benefit those in need, but it also lightens your load and refreshes your wardrobe. When we let go of items that no longer serve us, we make room for new opportunities and experiences to enter our lives. Knowing that your old clothes will find new life with someone else can bring a sense of fulfillment and purpose, motivating you to continue decluttering and giving back to those in need. Self Care: Declutter and Make Room for Growth

Right now we live in a world where more is better. We’ve come addicted to having “stuff”. One for sure way to get yourself lost is surrounding yourself with an abundance of “things” or making yourself believe you need more than you need.

I’ve heard the saying a person’s home or car is reflection of who they are. No I don’t mean if they have a messy car or home then they are nasty. Being nasty and just having stuff laying around is two different things.

If you get a ride from someone and they have to clean the seat off for you to sit down then thats how they run their life. In most cases they are always in a rush or just barely making it to work or appointments on time. Even though they have a phone they probably missed the reminder or because their life is so sporadic they didn’t even set a reminder.

When you walk into a person home and if just seems like they have stuff everywhere with no meaning or purpose then that is a reflection of them. They may feel like they have to hold on to things and sometimes its hard for them to get rid of “stuff.” Holding on to trinkets for memories sometimes hold us back from moving on from things that has happened in the past.

If you find you look around and see stuff collecting dust, you don’t use it, or you haven’t wore a certain piece of clothing in a while then get rid of it. Most of the time once we declutter our home, our minds begin to open up. Getting rid of old stuff that doesn’t serve a purpose make room for something else to come into your life that have meaning.

Go through the closet and get rid of those old clothes and shoes that are out dated. You haven’t wore them in forever and saving for a “just in case” event is holding you back. If that event hasn’t come by now then you don’t need it. Most often when that “just in case event” comes you’ll probably go out and purchase something new.

When we declutter our home we renew mind and our new thoughts, ideas come to the forefront. Our creativity is refreshed and we get a new sense of purpose, our confidence is renewed, and we have motivation to push through whatever has been holding us back.

Purging old meaningless things allows us to let go of the past and move on. Holding on keeps us bound to certain events and things that happened to us. Decluttering gives you power to say I’m not going to live in the past and be stuck.
