5 Things I’d Like to Do More Of: Embracing Positivity and Growth

It’s so easy to get caught up in the cycle of focusing on what we don’t like, what we don’t want, and what we feel we lack. But what if we shifted our mindset? What if we started thinking more about the things we want to do more of, the things that bring us joy and have a positive impact on our lives? This shift in language and focus can open the door to greater happiness, growth, and fulfillment. Here are a few things I’d like to do more of that I believe will enrich my life and well-being.

1. Read More

One of the first things I’d like to do more of is reading. We all know the benefits of reading—expanding our knowledge, improving our vocabulary, and keeping our minds sharp as we age. Reading also provides a great escape from the daily grind, allowing us to immerse ourselves in different worlds, perspectives, and ideas. As life gets busier, it’s easy to let reading fall by the wayside, but I’m determined to make it a bigger part of my routine. Whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, or even articles and blogs, I want to read more and make time for this self care activity.

2. Improve My Posture

Sitting at a desk all day can take a toll on our posture, and I’ve noticed that I’m not immune to this. Poor posture can lead to a host of issues, from back pain to decreased energy levels. That’s why I’d like to focus more on improving my posture. This means being mindful of how I sit, stand, and move throughout the day. Not only will this help me physically, but it will also contribute to better overall health and well-being. Small adjustments can make a big difference, and I’m committed to making posture improvement a priority.

3. Practice More Yoga and Pilates

Yoga and Pilates are activities I’d like to incorporate more into my routine. These practices are fantastic for stretching muscles, maintaining muscle memory, improving strength, and enhancing flexibility. They’re also great for mental clarity and stress relief. As I get older, I realize the importance of staying active and taking care of my body. By doing more yoga and Pilates, I hope to improve my overall well-being and keep my body strong and healthy. 4. Create More Memories and Experiences with Loved Ones

As I get older, I’ve found that experiences and memories with family and friends become far more valuable than material things. I want to focus more on creating those moments—whether it’s through simple get-togethers, travel, or new adventures. These are the memories that last a lifetime, and they’re what truly bring joy to our lives. I’d like to do more of this—more connection, more laughter, more shared experiences.

5. Stay Consistent with My Blog and Self-Care

Lastly, I want to stay consistent with my blog. Writing and sharing my thoughts are important to me, and I’d like to make sure I’m dedicating time to this creative outlet. This includes everything from exercising and eating well to setting aside time for relaxation and reflection. Consistency in these areas will help me maintain peace and balance in my life, ensuring that I’m not just working hard, but also taking the time to enjoy life and take care of what truly matters.

Focusing on the things we want to do more of, rather than what we lack or dislike, can have a positive effect on our lives. By committing to reading more, improving posture, practicing yoga and Pilates, creating meaningful experiences, and staying consistent with my blog and self-care, I’m taking steps toward a more fulfilling and balanced life.

What about you? What would you like to do more of? Let’s begin to shift our language and mindset about embracing positivity and growth in our daily lives. Afterall, we only get one shot at this thing called life.

Why Mindset Is Everything

What you think will become your actions
What you think you believe, negative or positive
What you think you speak
What you think you become
What you think propels you forward
What you think holds you back
What you think is who you are

“Once your mindset changes, everything on the outside will change along with it.” -Steve Maraboli

No matter what the situation or scenario is we must train our mind to think positive thoughts. How we process and think about anything will determine the outcome of every situation. For every thought we think turns into how we respond.

That action in our response therefore sets the tone on if we proceed into something positive or propels us into a downward spiral. Which, depending on the action can either put us on a path of success or destruction. Positive mindset is essential to our mental and emotional health.

“Happiness depends on your mindset and attitude. -Roy T. Bennett

Our mindset is everything even in the choice of words or language we use. Why mindset is everything? What we think, we will say. Words matter, words hurt, and once we spew words we can’t take them back. Our choice of words can repair relationships, begin relationships, make someone feel good, and yes save our jobs.

That whole saying “mind over matter” isn’t just a saying, it is a way of life. What we think comes out in every action we do and every interaction we have. We don’t realize it, but people can tell what our mindset is by our actions and the way we speak.

Our mindset is what we believe in our core, who we are, and determines the path we take. Having a positive mindset and training it to be positive will allow us to overcome and weather any storm.

“Mind is a flexible mirror, adjust it, to see a better world.” -Amit Ray

Instead of saying “I have to go to work, say I get to go to work.” That simple thinking will put you in the right mindset in the morning and your subconscious is set for you to have a good day. Daily Self Care Habits To Boost Your Mental Health

Positive thoughts lead to positive emotions that leads to positive feelings that sets positive actions into place which leads to positive vibes and positive energy that is contagious which means everyone around you has a positive attitude. That one thought has lead you to have a positive day, an enjoyable day, and you’ve controlled and determined your atmosphere just by having a positive mindset.

This last year I really put this into practice. When I decided to consciously be aware, I noticed one little thought made the difference in how my day went. For example, there were times in the morning before I got out of bed I said to myself I don’t want to go to work or I don’t want to see XYZ, and guess what happened when I got there. I had a horrible day at work. The moment I saw XYZ my facial expression and energy created an atmosphere that wasn’t pleasant. The rest of the day it was awkward and tense.

So I tried the positive route. I woke up saying I’m thankful to have a job to go to, we are different but I can learn a lot from XYZ, and you guessed it, I had an amazing day. I walked in, said good morning, and created an atmosphere that was pleasant. From that point on I knew the power in having a positive mindset, the power I had in setting out for a positive day, and creating an atmosphere that is advantageous to my mental health.

This year if you want to start fresh and begin with a positive mindset. It will set you up for success every time no matter what the situation is.
