WEEKLY BLOG: GIVING MYSELF GRACE, FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON, & CHRISTMAS LIST

This week I decided to set myself some expectations. Each day I wake up and get so into routine and habit that I forget to just be sometimes. Yes, routines and habits are good. However, living and just being is equally important. Also I’m trying to check some gifts off the list that the kids gave us as well as for others. Lastly, still settling in on my new position and not let that take too much of my mental space.

Sunday: I slept in. Late summer I transitioned into a new position and it has tested me to no end. MENTAL NOTE OF THE DAY It was a little rough Friday, but after a pep talk and break I was ready to go. This weekend I realized I needed to give myself some grace and relax. My routine became so solid that I really hadn’t been giving myself a day off. Saturday and Sunday I would work around the house, do errands, and clean. Before I know it, I’ve literally worked 7 days a week. So the goal this weekend was to give myself some days off. It started yesterday when “I let the day come to me.” Thus continuing today. I’m not “working” today. It’s the sabbath. I’ve already went and got me a latte. Now I’m going to sit down and watch football. Later in the evening left overs was on the menu, I worked out, and finished relaxing. After giving myself permission and grace to relax not only my body, but my mind I’m ready for the start of the week.

Monday: I’m going into this work week still giving myself some grace. Instead of trying to hit my 5 milestones I’m going to focus on the one ahead. I’ve made the mistake the last two weeks trying to accomplish every milestone at once. We are given six weeks to accomplish them, however in my mind I have to accomplish them all at once. Because I know I can accomplish them I’m just rushing myself to get there. But anyway, morning routine went well. Temperatures are extremely cold. However, my teenagers don’t believe in winter coats and it pains me. Later on today we are expecting our first couple inches of snow. Of course we’re getting sleet first, then freezing temps, and then full snow flakes. Which makes road conditions terrible. After work, I decided to do a quick tidy round up because I’m trying to preserve weekends off, for that, being off. So in my mind if I do a round up 20-30 minutes after I get off I’m good to go. During that time I had dinner cooking so when I’m done, I could workout and turn in early. My plan for the evening went as planned, however I stayed up a little late watching the snow fall. It was the pretty soft snow flakes. We ended up getting more than expected.

Tuesday: Waking up to the first snow day feels weird. It doesn’t feel like it’s that time of the year but it is. Morning starts off great and heading into work I’m feeling good. I decided to take off after lunch time. It’s something my husband and I do every so often. We’ll either take a full day off together or a half a day. Just to be together. Typically do our coffee run at our favorite cafe. Had a meeting that went pretty well at work today and made some plans for the near future. School wasn’t cancelled even though we received more snow than expected. It’s still cold and the older I get I can’t handle it like I used to. After work I decided to do some errands, cook, couple loads of laundry, workout, and I was able to turn in by 9. Lately I had to give myself a bed time or end time. I chose 9pm. Whatever isn’t done, said, or happened has to wait until the next day. So far that has been working for me. The only thing that has my hands itching, is my desire to put up my Christmas decorations. For some reason Christmas is getting out there early. The commercials, Black Friday ads and sales, and some has started decorating their homes, has me wanting to put mine up. But I’ll let thanksgiving have its time.

Wednesday: So the last couple of days I’ve been have trouble with congestion at night and in the morning. It is the most nerve racking thing. But other than that, my mornings have been great. Each morning I make sure to put myself into a state of doing what I can and not over working myself. The kids have a half day today. We’re finalizing our Thanksgiving plans this week as it quickly snuck up on us. After work I made a quick errand to pick up the rest of my husband birthday gift. The kids were in relax mode and didn’t want to hang out. After he got off work we decided to go make some errands and visit my aunt before it was time for my son to get off work. We have been doing great so far, even started Christmas shopping early. I decided to give my body a break and not work out. Later in the evening after leaving my aunts house and picking up my son, I took me a hot bath, read a couple articles(I’ve been enjoying great inspirational and motivational articles on mahogany.com), and put head to pillow.

Thursday: I’m giving myself some grace today and taking the second half of the day off. It is my husband birthday. He has a meeting so I’m going to get the kids from school and prepare for dinner. We have dinner plans tonight as well as parent teacher conferences. Work went well. I had a great meeting with my coach today. Making the decision in my mind to change my mindset, has really helped me transition fully into this position. It’s still brutally cold out. But later while waiting for my husband to return from his meeting I folded some loads, did a quick tidy around the house, and prepared for the weekend. Later in the evening we had a great dinner. My husband enjoyed his gifts and a night out. Once back home we had cake before capping the night off to bed. This last couple of weeks I’ve added some tips, tricks, and items to my night routine. The family as a whole fell ill to the seasonal bug. For some reason mine has decided to linger and I needed help to relax and breathe at night. Dr. Teals Aromatherapy Sleep Wellness Candle, Dr Teals Body Wash with Pure Epsom Salt Sleep Bath with Melatonin and Essential Oils, and oil diffuser with Eucalyptus oil. Those combined has helped me relax, get some sleep, and rest. The body wash I usually use as bubble bath. I typically would light the candle about an hour before I plan to lay down right before my skincare night routine and bath/shower. That way the candle has had time to fill the room.

Friday: It’s a great morning as we round off a good week. The kids are excited because they have an entire week off for the Thanksgiving holiday. However, my oldest son isn’t feeling the best. But he wants to tough it out because he has a couple of tests today. He still thinks he can go out in single digits every morning with just a hoodie on. So far my work day is great, my meeting with my coach is great, and I’m settling into my position. The plan is to clean this weekend to pull out the Christmas tree. I like to have the tree out for about a week before decorating to let it naturally fall. Later in the evening we decided to get some dinner and relax. The kids wanted to relax and it’s still brutally cold out.

Saturday: Again I’m giving myself some grace. I aloud myself to slowly wake up and get out of bed. I usually get up, get dressed, and get to working on my weekend routine. WEEKEND SELF CARE TO DO LIST I always like to use the weekend to do little projects like clean a closet, clean the fridge, clean out cabinets, or shred mail. Along with doing the usual cleaning around the home. But today I said I was going to give myself some time to let the day come and do what I can. That’s exactly what I did. It felt good and I was able to proceed with the day as it came. However I was able to accomplish getting 2 more Christmas gifts. I have this goal to be done shopping kinda early. Because my kids are older the list is smaller and all they want to do is hang out. One of the biggest things I’m learning in my new position is to set expectations. We set expectations with clients, with supervisors, coaches, and in meetings. My expectations I set for myself this week was to give myself some grace. Get a couple gifts checked off the list and stick to my cut off time at night. I’m glad I was able to accomplish that without guilt. If you’re wanting to make some adjustments or change some habits set yourself some expectations. I’m ready to head into next week with some expectations.

Have a great week!!!!!!!

WEEKLY BLOG: TYPICAL WORK WEEK, HOMECOMING PARADE AND GAME

This week is all about balancing work, home, and all the kids activities. Not too much going on until the end of the week. Either way my goal is to be as productive as much as I practice self care and rest.

blank book pages desk green

Sunday: Slept in of course. Have to have a day to get a little extra sleep. After brunch I kinda let the day guide me. I didn’t have too much housework to catch up on since I did that all yesterday. Also I wanted this to be a chill day because we went to a football game yesterday afternoon, and after sitting in the sun we’re all drained. Later in the afternoon I decided my plants needed some maintenance. You know, cutting dead leaves, watering, and turning. Finally I capped the evening off with watching football and going for a walk. I achieved my goal in turning in early.

Monday: Off to a great start of the week with drop off. This week is a slow one until the end. I’m getting quite adjusted to this work from home full time. I actually enjoy my day and have plenty of interaction with coworkers. It’s moving and coming along better than expected. I also have been doing a pretty good job at balancing work and home life. After drop off and before heading to work, I had to package up some Poshmark packages. This was a typical Monday for us. School, work, meetings, and an uneventful night cap. Just the way I like it sometimes. Can’t have everyday of the week booked to capacity.

Tuesday: So today started off a little different. The morning drop off went great. However, I had a little moment at work. Nothing happened in particular, but I had a moment of doubt that I can’t do this. After about 15 minutes of second guessing myself and literally thinking of a way to go backwards, I had to give myself a pep talk. I stepped away from my computer went to the window prayed, talk to myself, and got back to work. I posted some affirmations on my computer as daily reminders. I’ve been good and ready to go since. After that, I had to schedule some midterm conferences for my daughter. Her school likes to an 8 week conference update with parents just to check in. Which I think is a good idea. Later in the evening I had to head out for a walk and clear my head.

I Can Do This

Wednesday: It’s an early release day. The kids get out of school 2hours early. Now there is a shift in the schedule. But as always, we’ll adapt. The kids doesn’t have anything planned, they actually said they want to come home and relax. Before picking up, I spent my lunch preparing an early dinner for them since I had to go back to work. My goal is to clean and tidy up when I get off since tomorrow and Friday evening we have plans.

Thursday: This was a gloomy day. My husband has been having some back pains. The allergy flare ups have been hitting everyone in the house and we’re happy it’s Friday eve. Had a pretty good day at work today. Everything is clicking, I’m getting into a groove, and having a great time interacting via Teams. My plan is to have dinner ready by the time the kids get home and tidy while I’m on lunch. Due to us having to leave quite early for the homecoming parade downtown. One of the local high schools here is kicking off homecoming season. After the parade, there is a pep rally at the capitol stairs.

Friday: Friyayyyy!!!!! T.G.I.F. TGIF: SELF CARE IS ALL AROUND YOU I’m ready for today and get done with work to start the weekend. The kids are in rare form because of tonight’s homecoming game. During my break and lunch hour, I decided to cook and clean to ensure the house was ready before we left. Also I just like to make sure when we come back, all we have to do is run to the shower. Great start to the day. Everyone had a great day at work and school. Thankfully it isn’t too humid tonight for the game. Off to the game we go!!!!!!

Saturday: We all slept in except for my husband. He had to go open the store and my son is heading to work this afternoon. The game was amazing, everyone had a great time, and we’re ready for next weeks game with the rival high school. After brunch I did a good clean and put up some more fall decor that I found at Hobby Lobby. After cleaning all day, I did a good deep condition on my hair, worked out, and waited for the fellas to get off work. It was a perfect chill Saturday afternoon.

Have a great week!!!!!!

WEEKLY BLOG: WORK FROM HOME TRANSITION, ALLERGY FLARE UP, AND CATCHING UP

This is my first week working from home full time. I’m ready to get the administrative part out of the way and begin actual work. I know there is a process and I’m going to let it play out. Also we don’t have much on the calendar this week as far as events and activities. Therefore, we’re going to use this week to catch up and relax.

brown wooden table

Sunday: Finishing up the weekend and the first week of school has been great. I didn’t get to do my daughters hair yesterday so we’re doing it today. After sleeping in and doing my weekend check list. WEEKEND SELF CARE TO DO LIST I decided to head out and run a couple of errands with my daughter. As she gets older I’m being more intentional about spending quality time with her, even though she doesn’t want to. After 2 places she’s ready to head back home. Later in the evening I did some cleaning, laundry, and decided to relax. We ended up watching a program with my daughter before winding down for the night.

Monday: First day of my new schedule. I’m not nervous, or anxious. Just ready to get back to doing my normal work. Morning drop off went ok and I was able to head back and get logged in. I did however, still prepare and get dressed as if I was physically going into the office. It was important for me not to “get out of work mode”. Furthermore, if I need to turn on my camera, I’m ready. In addition to that, on lunch hour, I went for a quick 20 minute walk. Just as if I was still working downtown. After getting off I was able to finish dinner, and then of course go back outside for a good walk. The kids are still getting used to waking up early so they are ready for bed earlier than usual.

Tuesday: Still feeling good about this transition. However, my son’s allergies are flaring up and he just can’t take it. Trying to remedy him and help him breathe is always a challenge. So far another great day of working from home. Continued to go out for lunch and get fresh air. The evening has been pretty calm so far. With my oldest son off to work, youngest son allergies flaring up, and my daughter dealing with cramps everyone has retreated to bed. Although my youngest son is having trouble breathing no matter what we do. I have a feeling as to how this night is going to go.

Wednesday: My son didn’t have a good night and he ended up staying home. My husband also took off today since he’s helping me with the drop off and pick up until I get this work from home transition done. So far it’s going good and I haven’t had any technical issues. I’ve been taking advantage of being at home and getting house work done on breaks. Also at lunch I’ll go out and walk to get some fresh air and get away from my desk. The kids are settling into school and getting back into routine pretty good so far. Keeping up with the many activities, emails, and calendar is the priority right now. After work I finished up some house work, dinner, and went back out for a walk. It’s hump day and we all are ready to retire to bed early.

pen calendar to do checklist

Thursday: Typical work day and school day. The mornings have been going great. So far none of the kids are fighting me not to get up. I’m getting caught up on some procedural things at work so the next 2 days are going to pretty light. This weekend we aren’t planning on attending any activities. We’re going to use the long weekend to catch up on rest and relaxation. I of course have been transitioning the house to fall. I have plans to do some window cleaning, move furniture around, and clean out closets. After work is a quick grocery run, walk outside, and heading to bed.

Friday: OMG the rain and storm this morning is too much. I don’t like driving in the rain when it’s like this. Thankfully I was able to get drop off done and head home for work. This will be another smooth day before heading into next week with meetings and jam packed schedule. Later… The kids are home and don’t want to do anything but relax and that is perfectly ok with us. After work I took the day off and turned in early.

Saturday: Great morning to sleep in. I got some house work done before heading out to do some errands. After dropping my son off at work we took the younger 2 to the new Starbucks here and sat outside on the patio. It was good to get the kids out and see where their minds are and have some conversation with them. The weather was perfect and breezy sitting under the umbrella table out there. Later in the evening I worked out and did some calendar planning. Did some finishing touches on my work desk and turned in when my son got home.

Have a great week everyone!!!!!!

WEEKLY BLOG: BACK TO SCHOOL, LAST WEEK OF WORK, & FALL DECOR

After a weird and busy last couple of months I feel like things are settling down at bit. It seems as if everything always happens at once. Of course preparing for back to school the last month has been insane, I had a birthday in the middle, and oh yeah, I’m transitioning to work from home full time. But I will give myself a pat on the back, for remaining calm and letting the days play out and not get overwhelmed.

photo of candles near sticky note

Sunday: We all slept in because it’s summer and the kids like to stay up til 2 in the morning. And it doesn’t help they want us to stay up with them. But today after brunch is all about preparing for the first day of school tomorrow. Loading backpacks, signing forms and papers, and making sure they all have their schedules handy. Also I had plans to do a huge Sunday dinner by request of my son. Finally in early afternoon, we were done with back to school. I was able to get dinner done early, and be able to go out for a walk. The walk I needed to calm myself and clear my head. All while I’m thinking about what I have to do this week because this is my last week in office.

Monday: First day of school. As a tradition my husband and I always take off. It’s like our mental health day for parents. The kids are excited and we’re off to another year. After drop off and a quick appointment we went to our favorite coffee shop to have coffee and breakfast. The plans were to set up my computer and make sure my home office was ready for the following week. But, after breakfast we ended up binge watching some programs we recorded in peace. In the afternoon I did a quick grocery run, tidy up the house a bit, and enjoyed my time before they got out of school. After school was a bit busy with more forms to sign, my son had to work a couple of hours, and of course they were tired. Lastly, in the evening after a good workout we all were ready to turn in quite early.

Tuesday: Back to the office and I am wrapping things up to transition to work from home. I’m very anxious and excited to get started. Thank goodness it’s been quiet and slow so the transition is going perfect. After work and picking up the kids I decided to finish up my home desk, do a little work around the house, and then workout. My son had to work tonight so my evening isn’t over yet. However, after everything we were still able to turn in early. For some reason I haven’t been sleeping well or getting a good nights rest. So I’ve been ramping up on my night routine to get me calmed, relaxed, and clear mind for bed. Self Care: Sleep Routine

Wednesday: It’s bittersweet. This is my second to last day in the office. Drop off has been going really good in the mornings. It’s still quite a bit long lines, as expected the first week of school. After work I have a zoom meeting. A few hours later: my meeting went extremely well. I’m getting more excited about this transition and feel ready. We had dinner early, workout done, and ready for bed. Because as a family we all are adjusting to back school schedule we’re tired. I had to do a couple of errands and found some amazing fall decor that I’m ready to put up. I feel like it’s still too early but I’m so ready to decorate for fall.

Thursday: My last day at the office. Honestly I don’t know how I feel. I’m ready for the new adventure but a couple of agents I will miss talking too. I had a great gift waiting for me on my desk, we ordered lunch, and I left feeling whole. That was important for me. I know I will see them again and continue to have relationships. Later on in the day I got an urge to clean, move furniture around, and do some laundry before heading out for a walk. That fall decor was staring at me and I couldn’t help but begin to prep the house for fall. I’m still looking for a few pieces to have and once I find them I will decorate. There’s a switch in schedule due to my son work schedule because he wants to go the football game Friday night. Finally after a late night walk and my son getting home, I was able to head for bed.

Friday: I feel good this morning. I’m going to have some time to myself. After drop off I have to drop off my parking pass to my old office. Then I enjoyed breakfast, coffee, and watching Mally Cosmetics on QVC. In the meantime I tidied up the house, did a couple loads of laundry, published MENTAL HEALTH REMINDER: YOU CAN LOVE YOURSELF RIGHT NOW and had a moment. After that I headed to Walgreens and found some amazing skin care deals on clearance. Mentally and emotionally I feel great. This last month I’ve really been ramping up journaling my feelings so I don’t get overwhelmed. Praying. Drinking lots of water. Walking. Taking a quiet moment to collect thoughts, regroup, and center myself. I can’t express enough the importance of those acts of self care. Anyway, we’re headed out to the first football game tonight.

Saturday: Rest, daughters hair, and final desk set up is on the agenda for today. So I had a plan for today but it didn’t go as planned. I did however sleep in while my husband had an early appointment. Did one of my favorite things and cooked breakfast for my kids, a load of laundry, tidy up a bit before heading to do errands. Later in the afternoon I decided to give my hair a good deep condition before heading to the football fan appreciation night for my alma mater. A few hours later…As soon as we were walking to the stadium a huge down pour came. We ran back to the car and decided to grab a bite to eat. The rest of the evening I spent getting my desk ready for Monday, indulging in my new skincare, and a little laundry. I will cap the evening by reading a few chapters in one of my books.

Have a great week everyone!!!!!!!

WEEKLY BLOG: TRIPLE DIGIT TEMPS, BACK TO SCHOOL MEMOS, AND NORMAL WORK WEEK

This week is a typical mid summer July week. With schedules, activities, and memos coming in for back to school making appointments and setting calendar reminders are my goal. Outside of that we don’t have much going on except staying cool in this triple digit weather.

same shit different day neon sign

Sunday: All I wanted to do today was relax and just be. My son had to go to work and that left the younger two with me and the hubs. I got laundry done and a little tidying done. After words I spent time bing watching ”See No Evil” on ID Discovery. Lastly, after an early dinner, I decided to go out and walk in nature. It was refreshing, cleansing, and sticky all at the same time. I obtained my goal in primarily staying off my phone this weekend. I intentionally left it on the counter and didn’t have the urge to pick it up.

Monday: Oh the work week has started. I’m feeling good this morning and ready to be productive. My hope is when I get to the office I’m able to have emails and voicemails to take care of. Well….my hope for a little business today went out the window really quickly. But I ended up having a great day at work with it just being the 2 of us (another agent). The importance of having adult woman conversations can’t be valued enough. After work I plan to wash my hair, again. Do a little housework and then relax.

Tuesday: I had a good morning and afternoon to start the day. Left the office early to get my younger 2 so my oldest can head off to work. After running some errands, I got into a mood and cleaned house, changed linen, and did some laundry. Before working out, I made some plans for back to school since we’re beginning to get notifications and emails regarding sports physicals, supply list, and fundraisers. Later in the evening I had time to manage some Poshmark listings, go over some edits, and finally went outside for a walk. Stayed up pretty late since my son didn’t get off until 11p.m.

Wednesday: Starting the morning early with breakfast and coffee with the hubs. Was able to listen, read, and watch content to help me get through some emotional healing with my mother. However, the information rec’d was very informative, helpful, and gave me the motivation needed to move forward. (I haven’t spoken on the relationship with my mother and I much, however when I find the right words I’m sure it will come out. It’s very difficult for some to understand because it’s mostly emotional trauma.) Later in the evening I decided to do a midweek clean, laundry, and take some notes.

close up shot of scrabble tiles on a white surface

Thursday: It’s hot and humid out. Spent the day working on calendar stuff and schedule as I begin to get in school schedules, activites, and calendar memos. With the 3 kids, keeping up is a task in itself. Along with my son being ”safety kid” this year. My son had to work this evening so we baked cookies and relaxed until the evening. Had a really good workout today. I’m proud of myself for the last couple weeks been sticking to no sugar, carbs, or alcohol. I’ve noticed a difference in my energy, skin, and body.

Friday: Good start to the morning. Made a couple of errands before heading off to work. It was a little eventful at office. But I was able to get the kids sports physical scheduled. I’ve been coming in all week cleaning and doing laundry. So tonight I think I’m going to find something to binge watch and relax. However, before I do, I did have a chance to publish MY NATURAL HAIR LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP. I will probably still decided to go out for a walk and get a good release in mentally and emotionally.

Saturday: A typical sleep in morning for me. Had an amazing conversation with my brother and nephew this morning. Off to a great non eventful Saturday. Spent time daydreaming, enjoying my coffee, and then eventually binging on Netflix. Later in the evening we’re headed out to do some errands and grab a couple of items. Finally, the hubs and I had a great conversation outlining how we’re going to proceed with back to school, upcoming fall season, and goals for the second half of the year.

Have a great week everyone!!!!!!!

WEEKLY BLOG: FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION, AUNT VISIT AGAIN, & LOCAL FESTIVITIES

After the last couple weeks being completely quiet and uneventful, I’m back to a full schedule this week. We completely enjoyed not having anything going on except work. Even that has been extremely slow.

blur bright celebrate celebration

Sunday: Happy Fourth of July!!!!!!! We decided this year to enjoy the local festivities and get out. After taking my oldest son to work we’re headed downtown to the fourth of July celebration. It’s basically a festival with games, food, soundstages, live music, rides, and more. Also this evening we’ll stay for the parade. Although it is scorching out, we are very excited to do something different. A few hours later….we are sprinting to the shower because we all are hot sweaty and sticky. My mom even joined us out and it was a great time. After showering we relaxed and stayed in for the night.

Monday: Happy Fourth of July (again). Today is the actual holiday and we’re going to head back out downtown again so my oldest son can enjoy himself. Unfortunately, it’s too hot for mom so she’ll stay back until this evening when we go see the fireworks show. The kids enjoyed rides, funnel cake, nachos, lemonade and all the vendors. Surprisingly today, was a little different. There were much more vendors, games, and rides out today. As we were walking, we found a kid zone area with a petting zoo. We all enjoyed ourselves once again and glad we decided to come out. Later on we went to shower, grab some dinner, and head out to meet mom for the fireworks show.

Tuesday: Back to work. But first, I have to make a stop and drop off some packages to the post office. To my surprise work was quiet and slow. The temps out are approaching 110 and the plan is to stay inside where it’s cool. Tried going to the pool, but even the pool water is warm. After work, I had time to publish HOW TO PAMPER YOURSELF AT HOME ON A BUDGET. In addition to finishing up a couple loads of laundry, fixing a quick dinner, and tidying up a bit. Later on I decided to go ahead and workout. The rest of the evening we spent relaxing and making brownies until my son got off at 11p.m.

Wednesday: My aunt is coming to visit us again for a while. WEEKLY BLOG: NEW PERFUME, DETOX, & VISIT FROM AUNT So today I’ll have a quick day at work until it’s time to pick her up from the airport. It’s perfect timing because I don’t have much on my schedule at work. Few hours later…we are at my moms catching up. The kids did their weekly chores and clean up at their granny house. Next, we decided to make a store run and then I went home to clean, do laundry, change linen, and deep condition my hair. With it being so hot out I have to do it a couple times a week now. Finally, I was able to head off to bed.

Thursday: I’m feeling blah this morning. I didn’t sleep good at all last night. I know I went to bed late after cleaning and working. But, I thought that would tire me out and put me to sleep. None the less, I’m ready for the day. After work this evening we have a parent meeting for my son who was nominated to be a safety kid for next school year. Later on after an hour and half meeting we went for ice cream. The meeting was very informative, exciting, and fun for the kids. This safety kids thing is much more than I thought it was, but I’m excited for my son.

Friday: I’m anxious this morning because I have a meeting and I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a while. I know work is going to be great because it’s only 2 of us all day and we’ve been slow all week. Well…my meeting went better than great. I’m really excited for this new opportunity and I’m happy with how I presented myself. Later on in the evening we went to this event downtown called the ”Ice Cream Splash”. It was another good evening of live music, all you can eat ice cream, games, and prizes for the kids. 5 SIMPLE AND EASY HEALTHY TIPS FOR SUMMER It was even better because the weather was bearable.

Saturday: It’s a very chill morning. A little gloomy out, but I decided to get up early and run a couple of errands. My son has to work this afternoon into evening so we’re going to stay close to home and relax. I have a couple things on my to do list and get ready for another week. WEEKEND SELF CARE TO DO LIST Also a couple of task to complete for this new venture I’m going to start and then I think I’m done for the day. Later in the evening, I was able to do some work, write post, from all the notes I took earlier in the week at work.

Have a great week!!!!

WEEKLY BLOG: HOT SUMMER DAYS ,ADJUSTING SCHEDULES, & FESTIVAL

This week we are focused on staying cool and adjusting to schedules. My son work schedule has ramped up and making sure the other kids have someone with them, has been our priority.

Sunday: After a week of not much going on, today started very calm. I’ve been caught up on household duties. Therefore, I decided to finish up some of the things that was on my to do list. WEEKEND SELF CARE TO DO LIST Also took a chance to just sit and chill. During the week from the time I wake up at 5a.m. I’m going until I go to bed. Because it’s so hot out the kids didn’t want to do anything so we stayed in the cool air. Right now we’re adjusting to my oldest son working and our daily routine shifting a bit. Lastly, I’m trying to get the kids input on some Father’s Day ideas.

Weekly Blog

Monday: Great morning. It’s a little rainy out and very humid. We are in the triple digits this week and I know we won’t be out much. The one thing I do love about this weather is I can go out and walk and get a good sweat in. That is the best feeling. Currently not too excited to head to the office, we been very slow. I’d rather spend time at home working on other things. But anyway, it was good to have some good conversation, get notes done, and get out the house. It’s extremely hot and humid out, which means I get to get in a good walk, sweat, and release. The rest of the evening we stayed in the cool air conditioned and relax.

Tuesday: We are adjusting to my son going to work and making sure someone else is here with my other kids. It’s been a struggle but it hasn’t turned out as bad as I thought. My son is really liking his job and has picked up well. I don’t have much on my to do list at work today. But I will take the time to do some research. Later in the evening I strolled the ailses of several stores looking for something for father’s day. Once agian I am completely stumped and have no idea what I’m going to do. Afterward, I decided to relax myself and get a good walk in before turning in.

Wednesday: These triple digits are draining. Your skin just feels like its crawling off. But heading into the office I know there isn’t much going on and I plan to do some other work to keep me busy. When we get off, my son has to go to the DMV and I’m so not ready for this. It’s hard to believe I have a kid old enough to work and drive. But the hubs and I enjoyed taking him around showing him how things go and what needs to be done when heading into this phase of life. Also it was good for my younger two to see the process. Later on in the evening I decided to go out for a walk and get some sun, watch the deer, and rabbits enjoy nature with me.

Thursday: Morning is going great. Adjusting to different schedules and watching my son get ready for work with me is surreal. We literally had a conversation the other day about how we have a 16 year old who is working, getting a check in his name, and making his own way. But as usual, office has been really slow so I’m trying to use it as time to do some leg work on other opportunities. We haven’t been really planning much because it’s so hot out and no one wants to do anything. There is a festival this weekend we may head to.

Friday: I am so glad the week is over. Nothing too much is planned for the weekend. Because my son is working the evening on Sunday (Father’s Day). We might just do brunch and then spend the day at my moms. There are a couple activities going on locally tomorrow that I may take the other kids too. If it isn’t too hot and they want to go. Spent the evening doing my daughters hair and then cleaning. I was able to get some edits done and published 10 LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY.

Saturday: We had a chill sleep in kind of morning. There is a festival that we’re going to head out to after my son goes to work. After an afternoon clean up, laundry, and doing my daughters hair we headed out to the festival. It was also near a water park so the kids were able to have some fun even though it was extremely hot out. The music, games, food trucks, and activities were very nice and fun. We all enjoyed ourselves. Afterward we headed for a quick bite to eat, slushies, and ice cream. Finally we were home to shower and relax. Being in the sun and heat can drain you.

Have a great week everyone!!!!

LIFE DOESN’T HAPPEN TO US…IT’S HOW WE PLAY THE CARDS WE’RE DEALT

Being blessed to have a life to live isn’t a bad thing. It’s how we play the cards in our hand at the time. God didn’t put us here to be miserable, sad, angry, or depressed. He placed us here to do His work. We all have a mission from Him to complete. 7 JOURNAL PROMPTS FOR A GOOD WEEK

Ok, so it seems like every hand that you’ve been dealt has been bad and you can’t make anything out of them. Well maybe we need to figure out the lesson in what God is trying to tell us. If what you’ve been praying for hasn’t changed, maybe God isn’t changing the situation because there is a lesson there you need to learn before he can move you forward.

Simply changing our attitude toward a situation, person, or even money can help propel us forward. Switching or adjusting your perspective can help you see a little more clear. So those cards that you can’t do anything with, change your perspective and attitude about. Switch them around in your hand, take a risk, and play them differently than last time.

How we handle the bumps in the road, will determine where we go, how far we go, and if we go. If faced with the same bump twice, don’t go over it the same as you did last time. Take a different route. Choose a different speed. Switch the avenue in which you decide to get over the bump. Also not everything that ”happens” to us, is for us to tackle. Check out this book ”Living A Loved Lifehttps://amzn.to/3zwQ0GO that is filled with inspiration and motivation to help us tackle this thing called life.

Life doesn’t happen to us, but it’s how we play the cards that are dealt. Remember no two hands will ever be same. We will have challenges and situations that occur that we don’t like, but it’s about learning, adjusting, and conquering. The challenges we face are there to teach us, motivate us, and prepare us for the next. It’s up to us to listen and learn.

As you prepare for the week ahead, remember to stay calm, don’t respond or react emotionally, and allow yourself to have a moment. Rely on your meditation, journaling, routines, exercise, and community for support. #SundayFunday

Have a great week everyone!!!!!!!

5 TIPS TO BEAT THE AFTERNOON SLUMP

Lately because work has been slow, I had begun to get these afternoon slumps. I had to switch somethings up in my routine to give myself an afternoon pick me up. Here are a couple of tips to beat that afternoon slump.

  1. Healthy Snack. Because I work in an office setting and sit at a desk for hours it’s important for me to choose wisely when it comes to snacking. Try this very tasty but inexpensive blend mix to give you some energy. https://amzn.to/3aFamU2 This week I focused on packing fresh fruits, several different kinds of trail mix, and a good protein bar. All are packed with natural flavors, low sugar, and high in protein. Opting for a healthy snack provides more energy and benefits than cookies, chips, or candy.
  2. Water. Water. Water. Staying hydrated is a must. The more water I drink the more I’m going to have to get up and go to the bathroom, which is a good thing. The more water you drink the less you snack. Also the more water you drink, is a great way to reduce belly bloating. And of course your skin stays clear. Yes, I slice lemon in the morning, place it in a baggy, and in my lunch bag. This helps me keep variety and flavor with my water. Limit the soda and sugary coffee drinks that will give you an afternoon crash.
  3. Get Up and Move. Taking a 5-10 minute break is essential to beating the afternoon slump. Go outside, get some fresh air, and walk around. 6 TIPS FOR MONDAY MORNING BLUES Give your eyes a break from looking at a computer screen. This will give you a natural boost of energy. If you can, go to a coworker desk and have a quick chit chat. Don’t do anything work related for a few moments.
  4. Turn on tunes. Sometimes if it’s too quiet I will turn on some soft music. If you can, create some noise or distraction for you to focus on where only you can hear at your desk. If I don’t do some soft jazz, I’ll turn an audio book, or video on YouTube. The goal here is to give your mind something else to hear and focus on.
  5. Routine Switch. This is simple and works. Among your daily tasks switch up your routine. Find a way to make your job interesting but yet still productive. Doing the same thing day after day will get boring and provides lack of enthusiasm. Bonus Tip: Get creative and switch your desk around. Spruce up your work area.

These tips to beat the afternoon slump is for anyone to use. You don’t have to work in an office setting. If you work from home these are great tips. If you’re a stay at home mom, the tips can help. Adjust and tailor them to fit your needs.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!
