THANKSGIVING 2022 HOLIDAY MENTAL NOTE

Go where you can be yourself comfortably.

So many of us are about to visit family and friends that we haven’t seen in a while. Yes it’s fun, exciting, and a huge emotional release to be around loved ones. There’s no doubt about the comfort, joy, and peace our love ones provide. However, this Thanksgiving, go where you can be yourself comfortably.

In previous years it had pained me to see some family members attempt to give an illusion of themselves throughout the entire weekend. From the time they arrived on Wednesday night until they left Sunday we had to hear about everything that made them feel better.

The endless conversations about their cruises and vacations, the kind of clothes or designers they only like to wear, where they like to shop, the activities they do with their kids, and what they are doing next. But never really showed interest in anyone else’s adventures. Finally, in the most sincere way I could, I told them they didn’t have to prove themselves to anyone. When it comes to those who say they love you, you don’t have to try to be more than what you are. You alone are enough.

When you are around family or friends, you shouldn’t have to pretend, create a false narrative or picture, or feel less than anyone else. BE YOUR BEST WHERE YOU ARE

Then last week I spoke to a friend who said they were going to Thanksgiving with their husband but didn’t really want to go because of the family dynamic.

Don’t go anywhere where you are emotionally uncomfortable. Or be in a position where you are walking on egg shells.

If you have been invited to spend time with others this holiday, great. On the other hand, if that gut instinct of yours is having you not wanting to go, making excuses on not to go, or making excuses up to leave early, then you ought to rethink the invitation. Go where you can be yourself comfortably.

A place that makes you feel like you can breathe, you can have good conversation, enjoy food, and laughter.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!

HOLIDAY 2021 MOTIVATION: TAKE A MOMENT FOR YOURSELF

It’s the week of Christmas and everyone is running around frantic. This is a fun, exciting, and emotional week leading up to the big day. However, you, I, and everyone else must take a moment for ourselves. Don’t get so overwhelmed with what’s going on that you forget to breathe, look at yourself in the mirror, and just be. HOLIDAY 2021: 3 SIMPLE SELF CARE TIPS

Even if this moment is only five minutes. Take it with pleasure. A long bath or shower is always a good way to recoup and be in the moment. If going out window shopping is something you can do for yourself then do that. Go to your local coffee shop, and have a moment to think or not think about anything at all. A good way to be uninterrupted, is to go in the bathroom and close the door. People may thing you’re doing number 2, 🤷🏾‍♀️ but that’s ok. Thats the point.

Take a moment and call a friend to see how they are holding up during this time. We never know what people are going through. Sometimes helping others and being an ear for others, helps us as well. You get through things together.

Worry about what you can control and leave rest. Don’t stress yourself over anything. No matter what happens you can have a great holiday if you choose to. Furthermore, it will all work out how it suppose to.

Either way you are suppose to enjoy yourself as well. Yes, we are supposed to give and make others feel special, but you have permission to make yourself feel good as well. As you prepare to enjoy your holiday don’t forget to take a moment for yourself. You deserve it. You have the right to. Don’t let this holiday go by without you enjoying yourself.

Be Well!!!!!

Happy Holidays!!!!!! Merry Christmas!!!!!!

HOLIDAY 2021: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!! I hope you all have a safe, relaxing, and fun time with family and friends. Use this time to breathe and just be. You’ll get back to work soon enough. Enjoy being off and let yourself be free. EVEN THE STRONGEST NEEDS A BREAK

Whatever this holiday may look like for you, embrace it. There are many changes happening in everyday life, so some may not still get to gather for a multitude of reasons. If you are dealing with grief and loss, remember the good times. Celebrate as if they were still with you physically, because they are with you still spiritually.

If you are a family having financial difficulty, don’t let that sour your mood, weekend off, and holiday. Have a great Thanksgiving with what you have. Just because a million dollars gets spent doesn’t mean it will be enjoyable. You can still have an amazing time with less. Even if you can’t do what you used to, still do what you can and enjoy.

On the other hand, if you’re a family that has distance literally and/or figuratively, gather and send love anyway. Even if they don’t receive the love right away, they’ll have it to hold to for when they need it. Make a choice to do right and love regardless. I know it may be difficult. But remember forgiveness is for you not them. Also making the decision to do right instead of being right may just get things back on track.

Life is short. We can’t get this day back, time back, or holiday do over. Don’t waste it. Be you and take care of yourself.

I am very grateful and appreciative of everyone who has supported, stop by, commented, and like a post of mine. It means the world to me. Thank you all so much.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!

Dear 2020,

It’s been real. It’s been a drama for sure. You showed us how not to make plans and be too sure about anything. So many of us had plans for you, 2020. It was going to be the year of wealth, health, new businesses , relationships, weddings, milestones, and new beginnings. Obviously you had other plans for us.

I don’t know what your point of all this was, to turn our lives upside down and inside out but you will not WIN!!!!!! We’ve had time to think, meditate, and reflect about what we want and value in life. Can you say hindsight 2020? And we thank you for giving us this time. We thank you for the heart ache, pain, devastation, unknown, and keeping us on the edge of our seats.

You keeping us on the edge of our seats has lit a fire under us. We know family and spending quality time with them is important. We know how important self care is and what we need, to be the best version of ourselves. We’ve found our passions and are ready to put our plans into actions.

We are focused, determined, and ready for you to leave. If you look around and see how excited we were to be in the season of joy, giving, love, and laughter. We began decorating, some of us even earlier than before. We’ve began celebrating and getting in the spirit of new beginnings.

You’ve taught us how to be resilient, patient, and present in the moment. Yes, we were guilty for living in our phones twenty four seven. Yes, we were guilty in believing working until you put yourself in the hospital was a sign of success. Yes, we were guilty in not spending quality time with family and creating memories. But we’re back baby. Better, stronger, wiser, and more ready than ever.

Dear 2020, you came in with a force and hasn’t stopped. As a matter of fact even at the end you are still trying to have a hold on us. But we’ve caught on and we aren’t going to let you ruin this last leg of the race.

Goodbye 👋 2020. You are no longer wanted here. We’ve had enough and ready for 2021, refresh, and new start. Thanks for stopping by and don’t come back!!!!!
