“Confidence makes us beautiful, and it comes from accepting yourself. The moment you accept yourself, it makes everything better.” -Diane Von Furstenberg, The Woman I Want To Be
There are two ways I gained confidence in myself and continue to use on a daily. First I tackled my insecurities, bad habits, and personality traits I didn’t care for. I would ask myself why does certain comments hurt my feelings. After being honest with myself and figuring out why certain things hurt my feelings, I dug deeper to figure out where that insercurity came from. Once I figured that out, I was able to acknowledge, recognize, and resolve it. The next way I gained confidence is in giving myself grace. It’s still a challenge, but not being too hard on myself and celebrating my wins has been a huge confidence booster. If you don’t celebrate yourself, then no one will. What’s a win for you isn’t a win for everyone else. 6 THINGS TO STOP WORRYING ABOUT Each of our wins look different, feel different, and comes different. confidence is a muscle. Dig deeper and clean up those dark places you don’t want to go. I guarantee you, your confidence will sky rocket. Have a great rest of your day!!!!!!!
We’ve all heard the term “you can’t run on an empty cup”. There are several ways we can fill our cup to ensure the overall health of our wellness. Here are 8 ways I fill my cup for myself before pouring into others.
-Binge watch a show you’ve recorded, been wanting to watch, or just heard so much about. I find when I make it point to sit down and watch TV, and the show is good, I get me in a good couch potato moment. Because the show is so good I can’t stop watching it. Thus I’ve had some much needed relaxing time for my body and brain not thinking about work, chores, kids activities, or anything else.
-Put the phone down. I’ve been filling my cup with this wellnesstip very much lately. First I’m lazy. I don’t like holding the phone, talking on it too long, nor do I have the desire to text a whole dissertation. Because I’ve deleted my social media ALL MY SOCIAL MEDIA APPS DELETED it’s enabled me to become more creative in other areas. Challenge yourself to put the phone down. If you can’t, find something productive to read or watch a motivational video. It helps so much for your mental health.
-Have a private dance party session. So I get these in after I work out or clean up. I have my ear buds in and while I’m stretching or doing a cool down I make sure to dance and sing so loud as if I’m actually in a club. This allows my alter ego to let lose. Get funny and do things that you definitely will not have the confidence to do outside.
-Indulge in your favorite meal. Don’t deprive yourself because you need to watch your diet due to medical reasons or trying to remain physically fit. Every once in a while treat yourself to your favorite meal. You deserve it and earned it with all your hard work.
-Get some fresh air. Get outside. It doesn’t just have to be a walk. You can garden if that is your pass time of choice. Talk to a neighbor. Go walk the dog. Stand on the porch for a few minutes. Fresh air is one of the best ways to clear your mind and get an instant refresh.
-Have some me time. Take care of you. Pamper yourself. Clean your car. Change your home around. Get some new photos or decor up to recharge. Me time isn’t always about mani and pedi, facials, and going to the salon. Although that is important. But when I take my car to the car wash I have me time. Trying a new recipe and really working hard for it to come out great is me time as well. Do something that makes you feel free.
”Jobs fill your pocket, adventures fill your soul.”
-Have a good conversation with yourself. Talk to you about how you’re feeling. What has you upset or feeling anxious. How did you handle a situation you wish you could have done differently. Talk to yourself aloud and be honest with yourself. Only you know how you feel and what you really desire and think. THE ONLY PERSON YOU OWE IS…YOU
-Watch a motivational video or Ted Talk. I did not realize how much these videos open my eyes to a new perspective, idea, or communication. In addition to teaching me about myself and what my bad habits are. What I’ve done to hurt others or said. Even though we may have the best intentions, sometimes it doesn’t come out right or it isn’t the best timing. While cooking and cleaning I love to get in a good motivational video.
Those are 8 wellnesstips I use to fill my cup before I pour into others. We can’t be of service to others and ourselves if we aren’t doing the work. Filling your own cup First, set an example. Sometimes we don’t have to say anything. Just by you practicing better habits and becoming a better you, will inspire someone else. YOU INSPIRE SOMEONE OUT THERE Be well!!!!!
This week is all about balancing work, home, and all the kids activities. Not too much going on until the end of the week. Either way my goal is to be as productive as much as I practice self care and rest.
Sunday: Slept in of course. Have to have a day to get a little extra sleep. After brunch I kinda let the day guide me. I didn’t have too much housework to catch up on since I did that all yesterday. Also I wanted this to be a chill day because we went to a football game yesterday afternoon, and after sitting in the sun we’re all drained. Later in the afternoon I decided my plants needed some maintenance. You know, cutting dead leaves, watering, and turning. Finally I capped the evening off with watching football and going for a walk. I achieved my goal in turning in early.
Monday: Off to a great start of the week with drop off. This week is a slow one until the end. I’m getting quite adjusted to this work from home full time. I actually enjoy my day and have plenty of interaction with coworkers. It’s moving and coming along better than expected. I also have been doing a pretty good job at balancing work and home life. After drop off and before heading to work, I had to package up some Poshmark packages. This was a typical Monday for us. School, work, meetings, and an uneventful night cap. Just the way I like it sometimes. Can’t have everyday of the week booked to capacity.
Tuesday: So today started off a little different. The morning drop off went great. However, I had a little moment at work. Nothing happened in particular, but I had a moment of doubt that I can’t do this. After about 15 minutes of second guessing myself and literally thinking of a way to go backwards, I had to give myself a pep talk. I stepped away from my computer went to the window prayed, talk to myself, and got back to work. I posted some affirmations on my computer as daily reminders. I’ve been good and ready to go since. After that, I had to schedule some midterm conferences for my daughter. Her school likes to an 8 week conference update with parents just to check in. Which I think is a good idea. Later in the evening I had to head out for a walk and clear my head.
Wednesday: It’s an early release day. The kids get out of school 2hours early. Now there is a shift in the schedule. But as always, we’ll adapt. The kids doesn’t have anything planned, they actually said they want to come home and relax. Before picking up, I spent my lunch preparing an early dinner for them since I had to go back to work. My goal is to clean and tidy up when I get off since tomorrow and Friday evening we have plans.
Thursday: This was a gloomy day. My husband has been having some back pains. The allergy flare ups have been hitting everyone in the house and we’re happy it’s Friday eve. Had a pretty good day at work today. Everything is clicking, I’m getting into a groove, and having a great time interacting via Teams. My plan is to have dinner ready by the time the kids get home and tidy while I’m on lunch. Due to us having to leave quite early for the homecoming parade downtown. One of the local high schools here is kicking off homecoming season. After the parade, there is a pep rally at the capitol stairs.
Friday: Friyayyyy!!!!! T.G.I.F. TGIF: SELF CARE IS ALL AROUND YOU I’m ready for today and get done with work to start the weekend. The kids are in rare form because of tonight’s homecoming game. During my break and lunch hour, I decided to cook and clean to ensure the house was ready before we left. Also I just like to make sure when we come back, all we have to do is run to the shower. Great start to the day. Everyone had a great day at work and school. Thankfully it isn’t too humid tonight for the game. Off to the game we go!!!!!!
Saturday: We all slept in except for my husband. He had to go open the store and my son is heading to work this afternoon. The game was amazing, everyone had a great time, and we’re ready for next weeks game with the rival high school. After brunch I did a good clean and put up some more fall decor that I found at Hobby Lobby. After cleaning all day, I did a good deep condition on my hair, worked out, and waited for the fellas to get off work. It was a perfect chill Saturday afternoon.
Have a great week!!!!!!
P.S. Weekly blog is designed to show the realistic day in the life of a working mom balancing family, work, life, and herself.
We all are going to fall in life. But we all are going to get back up. That’s the name of the game. We won’t be able to avoid it. However, there are some reminders to keep in your file cabinet in the front of your mind. These 6 mental health reminders is what I tell myself when I’m feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, and uneasy.
–It’s only temporary. No matter what you’re going through or what the “it” is, it isn’t going to last long or forever. Yes, because you’re going through a trial at the moment, it’s going to seem like a lifetime. But in actuality, the storm passes and we realize it too late. Tell yourself “this is only temporary”. I am stronger than anything trying to hold me back.
–Perfection doesn’t exist. We’ll save ourselves some heart ache if we stop trying to be perfect. You know what, it’s mostly unconsciously and unintentionally. There is something lacking from our childhood or past that has us thinking we need to be perfect. Your flaws is what makes you, perfectly you. Just be you no matter what. HAPPY SUNDAY FUNDAY: JUST BE YOU
–No one is ever positive 100% of the time. It’s impossible to be this jolly cheerful person 24/7. If you see someone like that, then you need to run. Because they are a ticking time bomb. Someone is going to upset you, frustrate you, get on your nerves, or make you sad. That is normal. You are human. The key is to know your triggers and how to manage them.
–You are where you’re supposed to be. Yes, you may not like where you are in life, and working towards a goal. But appreciate where you are. You once asked for this position. Own it, grow in it, and learn from it before you move on to bigger and better.
–These bad days are supposed to happen. They are here to teach us where we need to evolve, grow, learn, and continue on. It shows us what we’re lacking mentally and emotionally. On the other hand, it also shows where we thrive and what we’re good at. Listen to your emotions. The good and the bad.
–You are not alone. Don’t ever think you are the only one who have bad days. Everyone has them. We all just manage them differently. Even those who walk around and act like nothing ever bothers them or everything is always together. It’s false. Being vulnerable and honest about your feelings and emotions is the true strength. 5 REASONS VULNERABILITY IS STRENGTH
Those are six mental health reminders I tell myself when my day isn’t going as bright as I like it. No one has it all figured out nor will they ever. Don’t compare yourself to others and they’re situation and circumstances. Live for you and learn from your bad days. We are going to have them. More than once. But keep those reminders handy to help you through them. Be well!!!!!!
“Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.”-Eleanor Roosevelt
This is a quote I saw a while ago that has stuck with me when realizing where certain people stand in my life. As I grow and work on myself I notice, watch, and learn how other people treat others. Also how they talk or speak to themselves, about themselves, about others, and who they like to talk about. I’ve come to learn how someone treat a person they “love” or like is a great indication as to how they’ll treat you. MOTIVATIONAL HEALING: LEARN YOUR SOURCE OF ANGER I guess you can say I character watch. It show a lot about ones character and who they are. The type of people they hang around, what they talk about, what they like to watch on TV, do they stand up for themselves or others are all things that tells you more about someone before you even engage with them. Pay attention to the non verbal cues. If you are at a place in life where you need to reevaluate some relationships or afraid to put space in some relationships take a look at how they treat others. Do you want more of the same or something different? Enjoy the rest of your day!!!!!
”Don’t let the storm in your heart overshadow the sunshine in your soul.”-c.r. Elliott
You are not your circumstances. Don’t own anything that isn’t you. Furthermore, don’t accept, participate, and own the labels others attempt to put on you. I have been guilty of this most of my life. The labels my family put on me I subconsciously accepted and owned. You have the right to live the life you want to live. Not the life others think you should live. Remember that you are not a victim you are a survivor. Isolated events that has taken place in your life doesn’t define your story. You are the author and finisher of your story. Don’t ever dim your light for someone else’s comfort. Shine bright and blind them. Enjoy the rest of your day!!!!!!
”I have not failed. I’ve just found 100,000 ways that won’t work.”- Thomas A. Edison
I came across this quote at just the right time last week. You know I’ve been in training for this new position and it’s quite intense in the beginning as always. But per usual, we all can be excited and confident, but still have a little hint of “what have I gotten myself into” moment. Then this quote popped on my computer. It was a great reminder that I needed to tell myself failure is in not trying. As long as you are trying, giving your best, and following your heart, you can’t and won’t fail. You just learned what isn’t for you and what won’t work for you. All the while, pulling away a great teaching moment for yourself and wisdom to put in your file cabinet. No matter how long it takes, how many times it takes, or the road to get there you ARE NOT a failure. KEEP GOING AND PUSH YOURSELF Keep trying, keep going, keep pushing through the doubt, and keep telling yourself how good you are. Enjoy the rest of your day!!!!!!
The best season is here and there’s so much to do. Fall season is my favorite time of the year. The weather, outdoor activities, cool crisp air, and of course, decor are just a few things to name as to why I love this season. We are just over 10 days into the month of September and there is still time to kick off 🏈 your fall season. Below are 7 things to do before the end of September.
Pumpkin Spice it up. The best part of fall is the latte’s. Pumpkin spice, apple cider 🍺, or pumpkin pie latte is all around us. Treat yourself to a latte one morning before work, on your lunch break, a cool Saturday morning, or on that Friday night football game. Get creative and enjoy a great staple of fall season.
Sweater it up. Sweater weather is the best season. Another great reason to love fall. This is the time you get to show off your cool, cozy, sweater style. You can refresh your wardrobe and purchase a new sweater. Gift a sweater to someone. Or be frugal and thrift. No matter what, get into season with a great comfy sweater.
Soup or Chili for comfort. 🍜 What else do we love about fall, those Chili cook off contests. You want to warm up with a nice bowl of chili to watch your new favorite fall shows. Get creative and try some new recipes. There are some amazing Chili recipes out there. On the other hand, a great pot of homemade soup never fails. I grew up on my grandparents and parents making a good pot of vegetable or chicken noodle soup on Sunday. Both Chili and soup is a great way to comfort you soul, while being good for the soul. Lastly, it may provide a great amount of leftovers depending on your family size.
Bake some goodies. 🧁 Cookies, cake, pie, and cobbler all screams fall. After that bowl of chili or soup having a nice piece of pie tops it off. Any of the above mentioned desserts pairs well with your latte as well. Another great part about fall is indulging in all the food, beverages, and desserts. You can still enjoy a good slice of cake and maintain a healthy balanced diet.
Plan your Halloween 🎃 day, night, or weekend. Begin searching all the events that is taking place in your area. You’ll be surprised at the amount of festival, bashes, and parties that are being held in your area. Most importantly there are going to be many that are free. I have older teens that enjoyed some of the events I found in my area last year. It’s more about enjoying the experience, people, food, and fun.
Decorate. 🍁 Give your home a little fall makeover. I know everyone isn’t into having seasonal decor. But rearrange you home. Get some cinnamon, apple cider, or pumpkin scents in the home. If it’s one piece or a whole season of decor get into it. Create a fall visual to your liking to get you into the spirit.
Enjoy the crisp air. 🍂The one thing we need to top off everything is the cool weather out. It will take some of us to get there longer than others. But, I’m beginning to see the change of weather in the morning when I do drop off. The cool weather makes the latte that much more comforting. The chili or soup soothes the soul just right. That sweater wraps around our bodies like a blanket. And the colors in the decor becomes brighter.
This is my first week working from home full time. I’m ready to get the administrative part out of the way and begin actual work. I know there is a process and I’m going to let it play out. Also we don’t have much on the calendar this week as far as events and activities. Therefore, we’re going to use this week to catch up and relax.
Sunday: Finishing up the weekend and the first week of school has been great. I didn’t get to do my daughters hair yesterday so we’re doing it today. After sleeping in and doing my weekend check list. WEEKEND SELF CARE TO DO LIST I decided to head out and run a couple of errands with my daughter. As she gets older I’m being more intentional about spending quality time with her, even though she doesn’t want to. After 2 places she’s ready to head back home. Later in the evening I did some cleaning, laundry, and decided to relax. We ended up watching a program with my daughter before winding down for the night.
Monday: first day of my new schedule. I’m not nervous, or anxious. Just ready to get back to doing my normal work. Morning drop off went ok and I was able to head back and get logged in. I did however, still prepare and get dressed as if I was physically going into the office. It was important for me not to “get out of work mode”. Furthermore, if I need to turn on my camera, I’m ready. In addition to that, on lunch hour, I went for a quick 20 minute walk. Just as if I was still working downtown. After getting off I was able to finish dinner, and then of course go back outside for a good walk. The kids are still getting used to waking up early so they are ready for bed earlier than usual.
Tuesday: Still feeling good about this transition. However, my son’s allergies are flaring up and he just can’t take it. Trying to remedy him and help him breathe is always a challenge. So far another great day of working from home. Continued to go out for lunch and get fresh air. The evening has been pretty calm so far. With my oldest son off to work, youngest son allergies flaring up, and my daughter dealing with cramps everyone has retreated to bed. Although my youngest son is having trouble breathing no matter what we do. I have a feeling as to how this night is going to go.
Wednesday: My son didn’t have a good night and he ended up staying home. My husband also took off today since he’s helping me with the drop off and pick up until I get this work from home transition done. So far it’s going good and I haven’t had any technical issues. I’ve been taking advantage of being at home and getting house work done on breaks. Also at lunch I’ll go out and walk to get some fresh air and get away from my desk. The kids are settling into school and getting back into routine pretty good so far. Keeping up with the many activities, emails, and calendar is the priority right now. After work I finished up some house work, dinner, and went back out for a walk. It’s hump day and we all are ready to retire to bed early.
Thursday: Typical work day and school day. The mornings have been going great. So far none of the kids are fighting me not to get up. I’m getting caught up on some procedural things at work so the next 2 days are going to pretty light. This weekend we aren’t planning on attending any activities. We’re going to use the long weekend to catch up on rest and relaxation. I of course have been transitioning the house to fall. I have plans to do some window cleaning, move furniture around, and clean out closets. After work is a quick grocery run, walk outside, and heading to bed.
Friday: OMG the rain and storm this morning is too much. I don’t like driving in the rain when it’s like this. Thankfully I was able to get drop off done and head home for work. This will be another smooth day before heading into next week with meetings and jam packed schedule. Later… The kids are home and don’t want to do anything but relax and that is perfectly ok with us. After work I took the day off and turned in early.
Saturday: Great morning to sleep in. I got some house work done before heading out to do some errands. After dropping my son off at work we took the younger 2 to the new Starbucks here and sat outside on the patio. It was good to get the kids out and see where their minds are and have some conversation with them. The weather was perfect and breezy sitting under the umbrella table out there. Later in the evening I worked out and did some calendar planning. Did some finishing touches on my work desk and turned in when my son got home.
