TIME AND PATIENCE ARE TWO IMPORTANT FACTORS FOR GROWTH

My biggest lesson of this week is TIME!!!!!!!. Specifically anything you’re planning, creating, or building it takes time. Time is key. Once you lose it, you can’t get it back. On the other hand, the time is now to take a leap of faith and do what you’ve been putting off. Along with time, having the patience to go through the obstacle course is key. The growth of your business requires discipline in using time wisely as well as having patience.

If you want whatever you’re creating or building to be sustainable or have any kind of value, my best advice is “give it time.” You don’t have to have all the answers. Therefore, trying to complete everything at once or in a day is impossible. Let things simmer and develop. Anything worth having will take time and patience.

Exercising patience and time allows you to flow through instead of the process being forced. Remember you don’t want to have all the answers. You want to grow and learn as much as you can. Time and patience are essential no matter what adventure you are on.

Time is our most important asset and it takes a significant amount of time to have patience. Even if you’re trying to over come an emotional trauma. Time is key for any healing. Having the patience to give the healing time is even more key. Your growth to overcome or build anything relies on your use of time and being patient.

What do you do in the waiting period? Educate yourself as much as possible. Reading and watching as much material as you can about your business is work. Knowing the background of anything will help you build a better foundation.

If you’re in a waiting period during your healing process, learn how your actions helped or hurt any situation. Work on yourself inside and out. Take up a hobby or do something that sparks your interest. The best answers to what we’re looking for happens in our waiting period.

In the end, remember to take your time and have patience to let things pan out how they are supposed to. Don’t rush anything, instead learn the lesson in the waiting period. Alas, enjoy every moment.

CREATIVITY AND MENTAL HEALTH GO HAND IN HAND

Tap into your creative side to help you figure out what you want to do next. So many of us are stuck trying to figure out what to do next, how to use this time we have to invest or invent something for ourselves. Creativity to boost mental health takes the chore out it. There is a true connection between creativity and mental health. When you begin to get creative it doesn’t have to be anything big.

Right now I’m having the time of my life learning and investing my time and energy into three new things to me. The first one I’m working on is to perfect my recipe for my version of Avocado Toast 🥑as well as my version of an Vanilla Iced Almond Latte🧋. The last is me working on my green thumb. I’ve always envied those who could nurture plant 🪴 and flowers 💐. One of my goals at the beginning of the year was to get some greenery in the home. I purchased one (an Aloe plant) and due to unfortunate circumstances, a death in the family, I ended up with three plants (a small peace lily and a large peace lily plant).

Side note: For quite some time now I’ve longed to have the talent on how to sew. I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of pants but can’t seem to find them. I’ve had many thoughts of purchasing a sewing machine and making my own.

But anyway….

We’ll be surprised to see when we challenge ourselves how much it lifts our mood and spirits. Begin figuring out what you want to invest your time in learning or perfecting. We’re so quick to say “I don’t know how to do that” or “I can’t do that” or “That’s not something I’m good at”. Well now its time to try something new. Don’t worry about how big or small the adventure may be to others. It’s not for them or about them.

Your creativity is something personal to you. The more creative you are the better your mental health become.

This is essential to your mental and emotional health because it’s keeping you busy, learning a new skill, figuring out new things about yourself, it’s challenging you to step out your comfort zone , and you’re growing in the process. You never know where your hobby may take you. Use new activities and adventures as a free therapist. Good Luck and Have some Fun!!!!!

KEEP GOING AND PUSH YOURSELF

**It is very easy for us to get discouraged and second guess certain decisions when we hit a bump in the road or face a set back. No matter what we must keep going and push ourselves. Whatever it is that you’re facing in your business, education, family, work, or finances its only temporary. Please know that when we make a decision to become a better version of ourselves thats when we really know who is in our corner cheering for us. As well as those who are sitting back watching waiting for us to fall. When you begin to face criticism, setbacks, and obstacles know that, that is a sign you’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to. They wouldn’t fight you if you had nothing to lose and nothing to offer. Keep Going!!!!!

**However, during this time it is perfectly normal to question if you should have went back to school, started that business, or began a wellness journey to better yourself. You now question if its all worth it. On one hand you may begin to compare your process with someone else. No matter what keep going and push through. Next you may begin to feel like the whole world is against you. The support you thought you’d receive is far minimal than expected, and the feeling of being in over your head is all normal. But the key is to push through those thoughts and use the rejection, criticism, and obstacles as motivation. Tough times don’t last. You will get through. Keep going!!!!!!

**Push yourself through obstacles and challenges. No matter how high that mountain is in front of you or how deep you are in the water push through. You’re going to be challenged and want to give up, but Keep Going!!!!!!

**You’ve made it this far. Don’t waste the time, money, and resources you’ve put into it thus far. Keep going and fulfill whatever it is that’s in your heart. You’ve got what it takes. The hard part was getting over that fear and starting. Keep Going!!!!

WHAT I’VE LEARNED THIS YEAR ABOUT MYSELF

As we approach the middle of March, I’m having thoughts of what happened just a year ago. What I’ve learned about myself and my personal growth this year has been obvious, to me. This pandemic has been a blessing in disguise if you seek the positive. Yes, there are some positive things we can pull from this year. I’ve even said to my kids “you know guys at this time last year when ya’ll went on spring break, you never returned.”

At this time last year, we all went through a lot. I’ve said in a previous post the same time we went into quarantine both of our vehicles were totaled due to a severe hail storm. I remember when the storm happened we felt completely deflated and had no idea what we were going to do. My husband and I looked at each other and said “welp, we just going to take it day by day.” Which leads me to five lessons on what I’ve learned this year about myself:

Slow Down

You’ve heard me say it before over this past year, that God sent a clear message he wanted us to slow down, live in the moment, and enjoy the families He gifted us with. Being constantly busy doesn’t mean you’re living. In actuality, especially children, want you home and available. Children want that structure and disciplined home even if they don’t seem like they want it. Just sitting and being with one another is more valuable than anything. Those are the memorable moments that will be talked about years from now. Create moments.

Make Myself A Priority

As a mom and wife I’ve been guilty of putting myself on the back burner to ensure they are taken care of and have everything they need. Along with taking care of myself, I had to get over feeling bad about it. This year I quickly got over that feeling of guilt. Now I make it a point to watch a tv program, get a spa treatment, take care of my hair and nails, and treat myself. Honestly, thats what my husband and kids would want me to do.

Ask For What You Want

Another hard lesson for us all, is to ask for what I want and not be shy about it. Have you ever compromised or blatantly not said what you really wanted? But you see someone else get exactly what they want and then you get upset with them? What I’ve learned this year is to not compromise myself at the expense of someone else. This is very difficult for many of us. When someone asks you what you want, say unapologetically what it is you want or need. They are asking you for a reason and we owe it to ourselves as well as the person asking to be honest

Protect My Mental and Emotional Wellbeing

This year I’ve really been consistent and good at identifying what’s good for my mental health and what triggers me. Protecting my peace and calmness has been a major priority and focus. To do so, I had to not feel bad or worry about hurting others feelings in the process. I am no longer afraid or shy to exit a situation or place to prevent it from raising my blood pressure. Therefore I haven’t been as tense and on edge.

Career and Financial Goals

The last thing that has become clear is my career and financial goals that I’d like to achieve. For the first time this year, I’ve verbally stated aloud what I’d like to do in the near future career wise. Side Note: I will share my career goal when I reach it, I’m a firm believer in not sharing until it has manifested. Financially, I’ve become diligent in educating myself to ensure we are as financially responsible and financially literate as we can be.

There is no doubt that we all had a life lesson this year, some good and some bad. No matter where you may fall, we all can learn something. It’s very important to reflect and see how far you’ve come. Reflecting can provide direction, clarity, and understanding. What has this past year taught you about yourself?

YOU CONTROL YOUR OWN DESTINY

As a mom of two teenagers I’m constantly trying to figure out ways to encourage, inspire, and motivate them. So I use our morning car ride to drop “mommy gems”. Today’s mommy gem was “you control your own destiny”. Especially for teens it’s important to remind them of the ole saying, “always be a leader, never a follower.” Remember they are teenagers so I have to be quick and to the point. I thought I share todays gem as we all can use it no matter our age.

Today’s Mommy Gem:

“Never let anyone pressure you into doing something you don’t want to. When I say anyone, that goes for teacher, coach, friend, family, and anyone who is in an adult leadership role over you. If it doesn’t feel right in your heart, mind, spirit, or soul then don’t do it. Never let someone else make you feel a certain way because you’re not doing what they think you should. You control your own destiny. God created you the way He wanted you and He has given you what you needed to live the life He set forth. Therefore, no one else can control you unless you allow them. In the same token, no one can take what God has placed in you and for you. An Open Letter To Anyone You are enough

Also when you make your decision to stand in who you are don’t feel bad if you find yourself out there on a limb alone sometimes. No one else can push us better than we push ourselves. That’s when we find our greatest strength. So go have a great day and be great.”

As I was driving I thought someone out there need to hear this, this morning. Go be great today. Be the person God created you to be with no regrets. You control your own destiny in life.

SPRING SELF CARE TIPS YOU CAN DO NOW

The suns out. The birds are chirping in the morning. The days are getting longer. Layers of clothing are shedding. Riding with the windows down. People are running and walking their dogs. That my friends means we are closing in on Spring season and there are some seasonal self care tips that’s essential. After the winter season we just had, its even more imperative to transition our self care to match Spring. Especially those of us who’ve spent the latter part in snow and ice.

Which means at seasons change there are some seasonal self care tips that we can do to recharge and motivate ourselves. Sometimes freshening up somethings and making a change of scenery will make all the difference in how you approach the days in the upcoming season. To stay the same year round is detrimental to our mental and emotional health. Check out my personal list of self care tips for the spring.

Self Care Tips for Spring:

  1. Clean the Home. Purge old clothes, shoes 👠 , furniture pieces, pots and pans, and any clutter that isn’t serving a purpose in your daily happiness. The physical act of getting rid of things mentally and emotionally motivates us to think new and tap into something different.
  2. In addition to cleaning the home, rearrange your furniture. Changing the visual layout in your home 🏡 allows you to fall in love with your house over and over again. That room that you really don’t sit in any more become more inviting and useful.
  3. Thirdly, the easiest spring self care tip you can do is to open those blinds and curtains every morning. Adding sunshine🌞 and natural light to your home brightens your spirit instantly. Meanwhile it encourages and inspires us to want to go outside.
  4. Another way to purify your home and spirit is by adding some greenery to your home with a plant🪴or add flowers 🌸 . If you choose you can even get a faux plant or flower arrangement. For some thats even better because you can really change the color and setting as often as you like.
  5. GO OUTSIDE!!!!! My favorite of all time is to go for a walk. The mental benefits of walking 🚶🏾‍♀️almost out weigh the physical benefits. For instance, each time you go for a walk, try a different park, trail, or route. Being with nature and having the ability to clear your mind is the best free therapy. For example, outdoor activity thats great for the mental and emotional health is to go to a park, find a bench, and meditate. Don’t open your phone or listen to music🎶 . Listen to nature, enjoy the scenery, the children playing in the park, have a small conversation with someone in the park, and be free.
  6. Change your hair color. Get a hair💇🏾‍♀️ cut. Add some color to your wardrobe. We all know when we change our hair it lights a fire in us that we’ve been missing. Get your sass back.
  7. Next, changing your hygiene products will compliment your outer refresh. Pick out a different scent of soap or body wash. Lighten your lotion or moisturizer 🧴 . Change the perfume to match the light, airy, colorfulness of the spring season.
  8. Plan a day trip or weekend trip. However, not everyone wants to have a grand vacation or have the ability to do so. So planning small trips to a city or town🎡 you’ve never been is more fun, entertaining, and educational.
  9. Finally, my favorite grill as often as you can. You don’t have to wait for a holiday to enjoy your backyard. Grilling 🌭allows the family to spend quality time together and it gives your stove a break.
  10. Enjoy this spring season, we aren’t going to get it back. Spring is light, colorful, breezy, and nurturing. Tap into the season of spring and live like your life depends on it.

To sum it all up nature changes from season to season. Therefore we should as well. Just like the leaves fall, we should shed some dead weight physically, mentally, and emotionally. Above all else, you made it through the harsh winter now its time for you to blossom like the flowers 💐 in Spring.
